Building HH-60J Jayhawk help
Posted by knight667 on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 10:28 AM
So I've found the Cobra Co. set to convert the Italeri SH-60B kit to the USCG HH-60J, but I was wondering if anyone had actually done this and if so what did you do for decals? How easy was the conversion?

Hi,

Recently I started building again after years away and I decided an MH-60J would be a fun project. I'm gathering info and pieces now so if I can help in any way I'll be glad. Decals are an open issue right now - I might try and print my own.

Take care,
Dan

You can get 1/48 USCG HH-60J Jayhawk decals from Hawkeye Models Australia www.hawkeyemodels.com.au . I woukd also recommend ordering the SH-60 PE set from Cobra Company and/or the Eduard SH-60 exterior PE set. Kelly Quirk has some nice photos of his Jayhawk on Aircraft Carrier Builders website. Mine is also in FSM October 2005 Reader Gallery which can be accessed on this site. I don't know that I would call it an "easy" conversion, that depends on ones skill level. Just take your time, pay attention to detail and use lots of good reference material. I was very satisfied with how nice mine turned out. Good Luck. Pete Brown
