My prayers are with you guys and the families of my brothers in arms. I know an 11B or two that was in Ramadi for a while and it is not a fun place to be and a worse place to go down.

To all of the guys there now, GIVE 'EM HE**!!!

An old Phrog CE wants me to pass something along to all of the Floppy Hats out there;

Randy,
I'm terribly sorry about this whole situation, from the loss of two good Marines, to the tangent this thread has gone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this difficult time as well as with the men and women in uniform going out there every day doing their job. We're all behind you guys, 100%. Good luck, Supercobra, Glider, & everyone else over there and happy hunting fellas.

That's not the point, Larry. We support our guys over there and two of them were just killed in action. Bob was simply expressing his feelings, since Randy's actually OVER THERE. Lets not get sidetracked on political nuances when we're talking about people's lives.

If it's bad for us to get sidetracked on political nuances, you're talking to the wrong guy in this thread. I think it's a bad idea for people to inject politics into the modeling board, period.

If Randy's actually OVER THERE, doesn't it make sense to clarify for him that the media and news people are not saying anything bad about the troops? Critics of the war always bend over backwards to say they have a beef with the administration, not the troops.

We lost a crew ourselves a few months ago. I sure am sorry, bud. Give 'em a little payback for us too.

That's a pretty raw deal, Randy. I know OPSEC makes it hard to say a lot about it, but I hope you got some payback, too. It's always hard to take when our boys get hit, but when it's that close it's extra hard to take.

We're right behind you a thousand percent. Forget about what the news people and the politicians are pedaling ... you guys are the best in the world and doing the hard part of keeping us free. I salute you all ... Semper Fi from an old Army sergeant.

MBT70,
Yes it was here. We are a pretty small community. Thanks for the prayers.

Regardless of how it happened, it has happened. They gave their lives so that others may breathe free. My thoughts are with the surviving family, friends and comrades.

So long folks!

Here's the text from cnn.com:

Meanwhile, two Marine pilots were killed when their Super Cobra helicopter crashed near Ramadi in Anbar province, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

The Marine statement did not say why the attack helicopter, commonly used as air support and escort for ground troops, went down.

"The incident occurred while the two-man crew was flying in support of security and stabilization operations," according to the news release.

About six hours later, a Marine F-18D warplane dropped two 500-pound bombs on a suspected insurgent command center about 550 yards (500 meters) from the crash site.

"The airstrike against the building was related to the crash of the helicopter," a Marine spokesman said.

Mechanical problems do happen, but that close to a "command center", chances are it was a SAM (probably shoulder-fired). That's just my opinion, but it makes sense.
