Not necessarily. If we were to follow your logic, we would have had the CH-46A, NOT the 'E'.
Why the HH-53E? What happened to the 'A' through 'D'?
So you see, Mark? The 'D' hook may very well be the first to be released and THAT is why you are not seeing the 'A' built up!
Guys!!!
That does make me wonder if the Delta will be the first to release!!!
The brane is filled with wonder!!! Can't wait to find out!!

When did the 'D' enter service? 67, 68? or earlier?
Don't answer thta!
Here is some info just in case:
The first CH-47D was rolled out in March of 1979 and the aircraft became operational with the 101st Airborne Division in 1984. A total of 472 CH-47A, B, and C model Chinooks were converted to CH-47D's.

On the Trumpeter kit .....look at the top two green house windows..... they end at a sharp point.
The real Hook has more meat between the canopy and the bottom of the pylon.
Its hard to tell......but the middle glass on the Trump hook looks a tad too wide?
But like some has said....Cobra may already have a repair for this or is working on it.
I sure wish that Trumpeter would have paid more attention......Now the kit is NOT in production yet and who knows.....it could still be fixed or may have?
Hope that helped Mark.

Glad I can help.....Oldhooker is the one who pointed it out first.
My local Hobby Shop will get their HOOKS from Horizon the U.S. dist for Trumpeter and Dragon so I will not wait too long....plus I like my kits to spend as little time being tossed around, banged up and squished as much as possible.
Plus its kinda hard not being loyal to my Hobby shop when they are less than one mile away!

For those who are planning to build MH-47E from Trump Hook.
Couple of major things which confuse me a little.
The whole front of Trumpeter's Hook is made of clear plastic so for changing the bottom windows and correct the upper canopy the whole thing should be substituted for a new one. Do you think CC can handle this?

Let's zero-in a bit...
Can you see the difference now?

I think it gives that illusion because of the brow glass.

That (( new nose piece)) would certainly seem to be an excellent, and relatively straight forward fix!
I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Take care,

Hi Guys!!!
I can see what you have been talking about.

I will have to see someone have seccess before I try it.
Hopfully Trumpeter will have this currected before it is release.

That would be nice but even at this stage....Im willing to bet that the Hooks that we have seen at the Hobby Shows around the globe are from the final molds?
hmmmmm I wonder.

All that's needed is a new vacuformed canopy/nose. Cobra Company does have some experience in this area with their HH-60H/J conversion sets (the pilots' door windows are vacuformed). However, vacuforming a new nose is much different than a one square centimeter window.
It's tough to say, without the Hook's instructions, how it should be done.

Hi Guys !!!
I hate that clear vacuform plastic junk. I can't ever get anything to work right with that stuff!!! Super glue turns it white and model glue dosen't stick it to well either!!
There's got to be a better material out there!!!

I'd like to point out that the cockpit color is wrong. The entire cockpit, (soundproofing, consoles, inst. panel, floor, & seat buckets) is black, not grey. Also, the landing gear is not white. The struts & wheels are painted the same green color as the rest of the aircraft.

Not on an "A" model, pre NVG-compatible cockpits. Up till late '70's to early '80's, standard cockpit color was medium gray, not flat black.
