Thank you sir,
I have been looking at that site already for ideas.  I will have to do a lot of research on what I can do to turn this into a Marine UH-1.  I was hopeing it would be as simple as replaceing all Army markings, but I guess not.  If push comes to shove I can always build it as an Army UH-1 but that just seems wrong to me, no offense intended to anyone here who served or ar currently in the Army.

Since you are building a USMC huey, let me recommend the Marine Corps Combat Helicopter Association website: http://www.popasmoke.com/. It covers the history of Marine rotor-wing aviation, and has a lot of info regarding the Vietnam era. It is full of references, stories, and photos. That would be a good source for your research.

Should have mentions that Marine weapons were different then that used by the Army, been awhile since I've seen that kit, rocket pods would work, but not much else, again check your references

Thanks, I never knew that marines never used the B model, I'll have to run out and snag that book.  And do some more research.  I'm putting a little detail into the build.  I haven't touched a model since I was 13 so I'm kinda re-learning as I go.

Marines never used B models, will have to convert to an E model, not to hard, no much difference. But be careful, later E models were closer to C models. Check your reference's good

Wussie,

The only reference I have is my trusty UH-1 gunship walkarounds book by by Wayne Mutza and that is more than sufficient for getting some appreciation of the variety of craft used. There are tons of photos featuring the marine corps craft. To buy its only about $25 (£15). Well worth a look.

I am building exactly this same model, but am sticking with the 1st cav decal set as standard with the kit.

Are you detailing it at all or just building it out of the box?

Question regarding UH-1

I am currently building the Revell/Monogram 1:24 UH-1B kit.  I'm throwing out all the Army markings however and want to go with Marine markings.  Anyone have pictures for the correct type of markings for a Gunship used by the Marine Corps, what units flew this?  I want to get this as close to realistic as possible.  When I'm done I'll put pics up.
Thanks,
Aaron
