The pics didn't post very bright.  If you want me to send them to you, just shoot me an e-mail.  I will include the ones from the back as well.

Wow, great pics!
The one showing the com-box is particularly helpful.

Thanks a lot, Screaminhelo!

Here are some of the pics I promised.

^R/H ceiling aft of crewchief's position
rotate this one 180 deg to orient to second pic.

L/H ceiling aft of crewchief's position

L/H Broom closet (flight control enclosure) from the same A/C
Notice the difference in the color of this older piece and the newer ceiling panels.

I hope that these help.  I also have some that include the drip pan.

Mac,

I'm still planning on making a dedicated photo request run over at the MX Hangar, but I too have a bunch of brands currently in the fire.  Besides getting ready for Christmas, an exercise planning conference, a unit deployment cycle a couple performance reports due (actually overdue) and finishing up my damn senior NCO academy course.

Rest assured I'll get the pics and post them.  I'll also take a look and see if I've got some laying around at the house.  (really need to hook up my new scanner...not really a computer dude)Smile [:)]

Sorry to make you wait even longer but I have an 8lb 11oz sleep deprivation machine that has kind of changed things around here.  I have the pics but they are at home and I am not.

Sal--  I would like to see the black panels, do you know where I can find a pic?

...what is a good model master color for a MH-60G (AF/ANG SAR) these days?

Recent post on the same subject at Armorama.  It has all the info you need.  MH/HH-60G color schemes.

Did not intend to steal the topic, but what is a good model master color for a MH-60G (AF/ANG SAR) these days?

Thought I'd mak my pave hawk current AF SAR, since I just watched a good program on the telly regarding that Colonel whom I've forgotten the name of  (From book fame, he was based in New Jersey the last years of his career, did a long rescue from Halifax Nova Scotia).

Anyways, apologies for stealing the thread!!

Klaus,

Yep they were present in 2003.  In fact the last pic I posted was circa 2003.  Basically it was part of one of the Block 152/162 SPS upgrades.  If the bird had the AN/APR-39 upgrade, then the Oh Sh$! buttons (one on each side) was installed.  I'm pretty sure we've had ours since 1996.

Concerning soundproof color, all of ours was sage or OD green, but recently we've been using more black colored soundproofing panels.  I suspect it's an NVG compatible thing, or maybe just a new contractor.  Oh...and our ICS boxes are exposed as well (as you can see in the pics).

It may be something from the OPS community but I have never seen any black soundproofing in a Blackhawk.  All of the soundproofing starts out as basically sage green and fades to various shades of sage/od, depending on the dye lot and what leaked on it.

Mac

I have some pics now but my camera is not cooperating very well.  They show the area just between the foreward troop seats and the crewchief seats.  I also have some of the drip pan and one of the L/H broom closet to show the color the soundproofing fades to.

Anyone have pics of their detailed 1/35th ceiling? I'm trying to think of ways to depict the black soundproofing more accurately.

thanks!

YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!!

There are a couple of access covers in the soundproofing in that and other areas.  Don't hold your breath, but  will try to get some pics next week.  I won't be back into work until Tue and who knows when I'll actually get them posted.

Avus,

That is correct. That is the troop commanders ICS boxed circled. It is normally the only panel open on typical UH-60 A/L acft during flight.

If you are modeling a mission ready aircraft, these areas will not really be visible.  The only part on the Lima that doesn't have a cover on it is the troop commander's ICS box.  There are flaps that cover the DC power panel and an extra antenna lead.

Thanks to all guys! The pics are really useful.
This weekend I'll have some more scratch building to do!

Sal,
Do you know if the "Oh S**t!"-button was already installed in 2003 on the helos deployed for OIF?
Send me the bill for the "D'Oh"-Nuts ... I'd really love to have some shots of the wiring.
If the uncovered bay area is not correct for a Pavehawk I'll use it for my Lima-Blackhawk.

Mel,
Since we have been told that RE-prices should go down in the beginning of 2006 we paused the house-hunting ... thus I got time to do some modelling! Big Smile [:D]

Klaus,

Here's some shots I took during deployment to K-1 back in 2003.  An added bonus is that it shows the internal ammo bins and how we normally secure/route the feed chutes.  As far as the overhead panels, 99% of the time you won't see much forward of the rear area since it's almost entirely covered by soundproofing/insulation.  Some are black (NVG Mod) some are OD.  There are a few clear plastic panels for quick inspection, but most of the wiring, etc. is covered.  If you're modeling an HH-60G (Pavehawk) and want to be realistic, you'll probably want to do it with the soundproofing in place.  Your call.  If you do want to show the wiring and stuff without the soundproofing, let me know and I'll see if the maintenance boys will let me take some shots with the soundproofing removed.  I might have to bring them a box of doughnuts though.Big Smile [:D]

Here's one showing the Euro Green main rotor mast I had told you guys about earlier.  We only have a couple birds with these.  If you look through the gunner's window you can see the soundproofing.

Here's the one from K-1.  Note that the ammo bins are "borrowed" from the 129th RQS out of Moffit, and that they both feed towards the front.  Also note that we didn't/don't mount the FE or Gunner's seats, but instead just taped some cushioning to a gear storage box.  This is for freedom of movement around the area and to increase space.  Also note the "Oh Sh!t" button.  This is part of the AN/APR39 system and allows anyone in the rear end that see's a missile threat to launch flares/chaff immediately.  You can also see where we store the aircrew weapons (M-4's).

Avus,

I will check my Black Hawk gallery for any pic of exposed area but it s really hard to find bird with so much removed soundproof cover...

BTW - nice build so far...

Just one more thing - there are 2 lights and a intercom thing in the center of kit's part that u use...

LOL this is a pic scaned from instructions to kit - quality sucks but the ceiling on this bird is removed completely))))

Also there should be one more cut out right above the left gunner - rectangular shape - I have no idea what is it but I've seen it on lots of pics...

Inspired by intruder_bass' excellent work I modified my Pavehawk's cargo bay:

As you can see from the pic I have a question:
What do I have to place in the indicated bays? And where on the Net can I find good reference pics?

Thanks!
