Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Hi Delov,
it looks nice - well done. Smile [:)] I've seen that kit around a few times, but never bought it because I've not heard of Amodel before. What was the build like? Any problems?Question [?]

Thank you for the kind words, I like how it turned out

It was a fair amount of work, the parts had some flash, there were some fit problems, the interior pieced needed trimming in order the halves to close.  Thank goodness for superglue and accelerator.    I guess,  the quality would be that of Airfix, Heller or MPM kits, exsept the panel lines are recessed.

The clear parts needed work, especially the nose cone, the side window holes had to be enlarged with a file.  I have always wanted to build a Mi-6 and I am happy with the kit-- it captures the look faithfully.  This is the second model  (the other is  Mi-3 Ambulance) I've build from Amodel and have a few more in the "wings".  They require work but the subjects they cover are worth it.

Nice bird Delov! Always like to see nicly builded russian bird. This one truly represents the hugest helicopter at least in Russian Army.

I heared that A Model kits require a lot of work because of fit problems but you are right - they worth it! Besides there is not much choice if you really wanna make Mi-6 in 1/72 )))))))))))))

You might want to check again.

That is an Mi-26 not an Mi-6 slingloading the '47. Mi-26 is somewhat bigger.

Ooops! Sorry)))))))))

You are right - its Mi-26Shy [8)]

BTW Mi-6 is bigger then Mi-26

length of Mi-6 is 41.74 m  and main rotor diameter is 45 m  against 33.7m and  32 m on Mi-26

Strictly speaking you are correct in that the diminsons of the rotor system are larger. The MI-6 does have a larger rotor diameter but it is equipped with 6 blades rather than 8 as found on the Mi-26, also it cannot lift as much externally and the internal payload capacity is less. The Mi-26 will has significantly more room internally than the Mi-6 as well.

Also, consider the shaft horsepower available for each engine (I suspect, like most helicopters both aircraft are limited by the installed transmissions/gearboxes). When you conisder that the Avco-Lycoming T-55 series of engines  on CH-47Cs were rated at 3350 SHP and the engines on CH-47D were rated at 3750, even the CH-53E, with 3 engines  rated at 4380 SHP each, is still puny in comparison towhat the Russians have developed.
