Hey Lenny,
Here's the scoop from an Ex AD in the US Navy, (My nephew). They used the rattle cans from WalMart! The .96 cent ones! He said the primer gray was an exact match for the navy color.
He was in VMF-131 Wildcats and they flew FA18C's.
The color called for is Light Ghost Gray. I believe there have been many different shades of gray used by the navy since the gray over white scheme was phased out. Hope that helps you.

Don
I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.

Medium Gull Gray for lo-vis U.S. Navy Sea King?

I have a Fujimi 1:72 SH-3H thats a bit old. The dirctions call for it to be painted, the now out dated light gull gray and white, but I am more into modern aircraft paint schemes. My World Airpower Journal ( Vol. 26) says it is overall MEDIUM GULL GRAY. I am familiar with the light and dark gull gray's but never a medium. It looks darker than dark ghost, and has a lighter gray on the hull underside. Even H-3 SEA KING IN ACTION#150(S.S.P.) does not nail down a general overall color for it. Whats low down? Lenny.
