Stat Medevac EC 135

Oh, that trouble.  That was the blue BK.  Lots of warp, broken window, fill the tail in, bad fits.  Yah, that trouble.  I thought you were refereing that you were giving me some kind of trouble..  LOL! 

For glueing those difficult pieces from the fenestron, use the two part epoxy from your local hardware store.  That have fast and slow cure types.  They work great for those cases.  The model glue don't quite cut it. Have some pointy toothpicks on hand to help and apply the epoxy.  Just use small amounts of epoxy at a time.  If needed, use low tack masking tape to hold things in place.

I'm waiting to hear back from John at Medevac.  Some time this month though.  Will keep ya posted. I'm both watching and waiting to hear.

That's awesome about the page!  Let me know where it is.  I must have misunderstood, I thought you had some trouble with your models. 

The worst part of mine so far is the tail fans.  I have broken so many of the little plastic strips.  I also am haveing some fitting problems with the tail section so I had to cut the tabs off to line properly.  The middle seem of the main fuselage is also terrible it will take some major filler and sanding.  other that that things are great.  I was hoping to find a set with the doors open.  I find the plastic a little too think for it on this model.  I have the revell. 

I am going to attempt to paint the blue and yellow by airbrush as well as teh rest of the body.  I just need to reat the lettering and other little marks.  I still haven't heard back from my med evac, but I can assume they are very busy.

Anyway, hope to get alot of the interior done tonoght as I have very little work to do.  As soon as I get some pics, I'll post them for you.  I'll probably take some tonight of the prgress on the interior.

Just got word from Stat Medevac finally.  They will be adding a page to their web site for modelers with all kinds of  detailed photos and technical info.  Should be up some time within the month.

They will be painting our local Stat ship in New Philly some time this year in the black and yellow.  I believe the same will be for your local blue, yellow and red ship.

Heres' the WSPS I fabed this week. 

The blue BK is the third one I'm doing which was the worst condition kit.  Lots of warp and damaged parts.  I even broke the windshield.  Now I gotta try and fab a windshield. I just need to add the stiffeners to the cutters (.02" dia. rods.) and the paint will follow soon.

 FYI, you can get some need shape stock and sheets and such from Evergreen Scale models.  Lots of neat stuff.  www.evergreenscalemodels.com

I sent ya an email yesterday.  If you get to take any interior pics of any of the yellow/black Stat 135's, let me know.  I need interior ref. pics.

Sure, I do it all the time.  All you need to do is create and size the artwork in whatever program works for you; Power Point, Paint, Photo Shop, etc.   Then get some inkjet or laser jet decal paper, depending on which type printer you have, they are not interchangeable.  Print onto the decal paper using the "Best Print" setting and set for high quality photo paper.  Let the ink dry, then seal with a spray acrylic, I use Krylon Crystal Clear.  Once the acrylic is dry, then you can cut them out and apply like any other water-slide decal.

You can get decal paper from Testors or order it from Papilio Art Supply pretty cheapely.

One note, if you are applying decals over a dark under color, you have to use white decal paper so that the decals are not too transparent.  If not, they disapper into the background color.  I found this out the hard way, after much experimenting (and wasting a few sheets of decal paper) to get OD Green markings on a black MH-60L DAP.  You have to use the white paper and print the surround of the decal in the background color so that it blends in.  This is also the only way to get white in the decal as well since home computer printers do not print white.

Check out my MH-60L DAP, all of its decals were made in the above way.

You de'man!  I was looking for some interior pics of the Stat EC145 as well as the other ships.  Nice job!  When UH Medevac had the 135, I didn't have my new camera yet.  So I was unabale to take pics at the open house when they opened the 2nd. base. 

Here's some pics of ME1 & 2 I took at base 2 near my house.  My batteries were dying so I didn't get to take any other shots of ME1.  (Grrrr!) The other pics are from the Home Depot safety day visit.  No pics of them coming in because I help out with securing the LZ.

Medevac Pics

I was working on the Stat artwork for decals last night and will be doing a set for the 145 and 135 black and yellow.  Thanks to your pictures and can move forward on that too.  Woo-hoo!   I was fabricating the WSPS for the BK's and will try and post some pics this coming week.   I'm still waiting on the plastic sheets for vacuum forming the external oxygon tanks and BK radar noze.  The External oxygon tanks can be used for the 1/32 ec135, ec145 and Bo-105.  (You'll notice the two types of extrnal tanks between ME1 & 2.)  So it'll come in handy.  We have three Bo-105's stationed West w/ PromedicaAir from Toledo.  Their primary ship is a Bell 430.

No problem.  Their was supposed to be a 1/32 set of decals to come out of the stat medevac by the same company that did the BK set.  Not sure if they exist.

P.S.  Back in the late 70's I got to have dinner w/ the Steelers during a basketball benefit for the MD kids in Oberlin, Ohio.  Some of the players at the time were, Theo Bell, Cliff Stout (QB who was from Oberlin) Franco Harris (Very big boy), etc.  Great group of guys!

The medevac you are referering to  w/ the yellow, red, blue, (Medevac 1 & 2)  is not part of STAT.  It's been a few years now since they parted ways.. It's UH and CJ Systems.  Also, they haven't had the EC-135 for a few years now.  It was replaced w/ a BK.  I live near ME2.  ME1 is based in Solon.
I do LZ support every once in a while when they do on site visits.  They're a great group!
 Stat has two ships in Ohio.  One in New Philidelphia (EC-135) and one in Youngstown (EC-355 Twin Star)

I am building two models for one of the outreach UH Medevac guys as we speak and have the art work in the works and just about finished for print on decals.

The only decals on the market are for the Yellow/black Stat Medevac ships (1/72 & 1/32 BK-117's)
Can be obtained thrugh Linden Hill Imports.
The only other different Stat ship is located at John's Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland.  They fly the BK-117 in the black and light blue paint scheme.  I know the cheif outreach flight nurse over thier.  Guy Barber.  Real nice guy. 

I have two spare 1/32 EC-135's (ADAC & Polizie) and would like to do one of the STAT ships myself.  Yes, I'm going to have to do the artwork for that too. Sigh!

I just relized something.  That ship you are refering to was our old Medevac 2 ship.  The word on that EC-135 is it will eventually be painted yellow and black.  Duh!  I forgot it's still buzzing around that way..  It's a nice bird though.  It used to be stationed near me.  It'll be a possability before someone from medevac has me due a model of  old ME2.  All I have to do is rescale the text.

FYI.  You can use the solid color sheets of decal trim film from Microscale.com  That's what I'll be using for some stripes.  Just make your pattern applying masking tape on the model first, prior to painting and assembling.  Draw it out with a mechanical pencil, cut w/ a razor and make a template from the cut offs or cut out.  Peel off and tu-dah!  You have your pattern either way.
