Hi Kevin, Smile [:)]

Myself and another Hooker documented their history, and during the process, found #149's airframe, rotting away in a junkyard near Ft. Eustis, Va.

The Cargo Helicopter Project Manager's office at Redstone Arsenal, decided to purchase the airframe and affect a cosmetic restoration, at which time, I was honored to be asked to re-render her Combat Artwork!

During that process, we were able to locate 79 of the Unit's 115 Veterans, and a whopping 64 showed up for their first official Reunion on 1 May 2000, the same day "Easy Money" was being dedicated, and as the Cargo Helicopter User's Conference was getting underway.

You can see more photos of the restoration process here: http://gunsagogo.org/0002/0002/restore/aindex.htm

Take care,

Frank

Well "Roy" sure goofed up calling it a winch when it is a hoist.
Not to mention that the US Navy and Coast Guard do most of the SAR at sea, so should a Navy ship go down, I'm sure a Seahawk or Jayhawk would be there first. (Maybe even a Dolphin!)

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.

Troy:  Frank....Do you know who 'Roy' is?

Yes, he's someone who ripped the pictures for his website, from Mine & Mark Morgan's sites, then added his own personal observations and opinions as fact.      Do I know him personally?    No I don't.

Take care,

Frank Smile [:)]

Sounds like the guy who continually rants about the merits of the M113 "Gavin" and if we got rid of all other vehicles and switched to an all-Gavin force, all our problems would be solved.  Great idea, bad approach at convincing people of the great need to use it only.  Would be great to have them, but not the be-all, end-all as advertised.  Cool that they show the Trump Chinook model though.

I have to admit bringing back the 'HEAVY HOOKS' sounds like a good idea.
