1/72 CH-46?
Posted by Aaronw on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 2:21 AM
I have found several CH-47's in this scale, and I've seen the new larger scale CH-46 (1/48?) from Academy(?), but I can't find a CH-46 in 1/72, so is there one and I just haven't found it or am I out of luck until someone makes a kit?

Fujimi made a pretty nice CH-46D in 1/72 scale, not sure if it is still available though.Sad [:(]

There are several CH-46s in 1/72nd scale.

The old Airfix release (pretty basic), The Hobbycraft release (which is really a CH-113 as used by Canada), and  Lee released a knockoff of the Fujimi kit.

As mentioned, the Fujimi kits are by far the best in this scale.

SMO has them

 http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=FU27002

this will get you the CH-46D and this

http://www.squadron.com/NoStock.asp?item=FU27005

will get the CH-46F/E (which is currently shown as out of stock)

Externally, there aren't many differences between the D and F, most of the changes were in the avionics and electrical systems.

From time to time both of these kits show up on eBay, but I wouldn't pay more than $20.00 for them.

Fujimi just re-released their CH-46D in the SAR platform (at least on the box art!) The cockpit is ok w/ corrected seats but the loud hailer that goes in the crew port crew window is a decal so you will need to build and detail the mount (45 degree box) for it to remotly look right. It is about $22.00 at my LHS.

Thanks, I haven't seen any at my LHS so I guess I'll check some of those online sites.
