Academy UH-1 weapon brackets
Posted by Bones-coa on Friday, February 10, 2006 7:16 AM

Modelers, to you guys that have built one of the Academy 1/32 Uh-1 gunships, I have a question.  Has anyone had an issue with the weapon mount brackets and their fit to the fuselage?  They don't seem to match the contour very well it cause the waepon mounts to be pitched up slightly in the front.  Aside from making new mounts, I'm not too sure how to get around this.  Any help would be appreciated.

I had no problem at all.  Are you sure they are on the correct sides?  They are handed.   The front support should be smaller/shorter than the rear one.

Yea, I have them correct in that regard.  To me, the forward bracket seems to curve too much, causing the whole bracket to not be straight.

Sorry, don't know what the issue is then.  I've had no problems with them in the past.

Ditto!  I had problems too!  It's been over year since I tackled them, Huey still sitting there waiting on "maintenance".  Hanger Queen!  Ha, ha.  I know I shortened up one of the cross braces to help straighten it out.  Any other trimming escapes my feeble memory!  I think they do have a slight tilt in elevation.  I'll have to check out some pictures and my mounts.  They are not installed, just have the square box type rocket poods attached to the mounts.  Attempting to make the first Shark of the 174th that sported the Teeth.
