Gino,

I believe you and Klaus, Avus, have something in common.  I think he said he was in the same branch over in Italy.  He hasn't posted lately, busy with work and new flat I believe.

Yup, Klaus is an artilleryman as well.  He just posted over in the figures forum last night actually.  He is working on a large scale OIF figure right now.

If I remember right it was just one big box, no detail to speak of on the 212's so you dind't loose anything to speak of anyway.

Better to scratch the instrument panel anyways.  The decal looks like just that, a decal, not a 3-dimensional instrument panel.  Panda really skimped on the kit in many areas.  Confusing directions showing parts options that are incorrect as well.

I'm reminded of something, someone told me me in "Nam",about "Arty".One shot kills them all.

Reddog,I've still got a lot to learn about helicopters, you are right,no cargo door on UH-1N. I had wanted to leave door open and detail, but don't guess I will.Think I'll try to detail interior,first-aid kits, barf bags, etc. Thanks for the input.

O.K.,I'll won't use the optional piece,Can't do what I wanted to anyway.I wanted to leave door open, and detail the inside area, but if they don't have one,Oh well. I did have to make the insturement and guages from "scratch".The decals for dash were missing from model. Thanks big time for the info. I'm reminded of something, someone told me me in "Nam",about "Arty".One shot kills them all.

                                                                                                              Thanks again,

The guys are right about Marine UH-1N's not having a cargo compartment in the tail boom.  Just the Civilian 212's and 412's had them.

I've got lots of hours in the back of a UH-1N (Air Force) and don't remember ever seeing a cargo compartment in the boom.  I've got lots of detail shots for my own kits (Italeri1/72 and 1/48) which you're welcomed to if you'd like.

Assuming you are building the Panda UH-1N with the optional right side tail boom pieces.  You should use the one without an access door.  US Military UH-1Ns don't have the tail boom cargo compartment on them.

Papa,

Firstly, Welcome to the helo forum!

I don't have much on Marine hueys, but I'll see what I have.  If I read you right, the other thing you're looking for is the Bell 207 Sioux Scout, which was the first gunship testbed.  It was based on the OH-13 Sioux (of MASH fame) but had a tandem cockpit, gun turret under the chin and stub wings fitted with rockets.  If you look through the next few pages of the helo forum, you'll see the Bell 207 thread.  I've posted a bunch of pics there.

Enjoy!

Jon
