Hey Gdarwin!

Yep, the Revell kit is the best large-scale Apache kit out there.  It has some issues, but overall it represents a very nice Apache between 1984 and 1990.  The Verlinden update set comes with everything you need to update it to a Desert Storm-era Apache, but still lacks the laser detectors found on current machines.  These details can be scratchbuilt pretty easily with sheet styrene, which would save you the $40 pricetag for the update set.  Unfortunately, that's about it for large-scale AH-64s.  It builds up nicely though.  Just watch the ejector pin flash.  There's usually a LOT of it.

Verlinden Productions also makes a very nice 1/32 Apache Detail Set#2198 which includes resin and PE parts

It is a very good version of an early (mid-'80s) A model.  It makes into a great model with no problem areas.  Edauard does a couple PE sets for it if you want to spruce it up a bit, doesn't really need it though.  Definitely the best large-scale Apache out there.  Jon "Cobrahistorian" Bernstein has built a few and converted a couple to current D models too.  I'm sure he will come up and give his review as well.

Good luck with a good kit.
