... and, for those who'd rather have a 1/48 "slick" Chinook instead of the ACH, the conversion process would be simple and straight forward, with the only major modification being closing in the lateral gun portals.

Looking forward to this release! Wink [;)]

Take care,

Since the ACH-47 is in the same group as the 1/48 kits coming out I would bet it is not a typo and we can look forward to filling our "helipads" with more great choppers this year!

CH-46s are somewhat smaller than CH-47s, for example on CH-46s the ramp attaches at Station 410 and on CH-47s its at Station 482.

Also, look at the interior comparison that I put up a few days ago, the interior on CH-47 is more rectangular and there is more head room.

This is one of the "triad' of brand new kits that have already made their way onto my "Must Have" list, along with the -53E and the Stryker.  Can't wait to hear they've made it to the shelves and then the reports start rolling in from all the great modelers here.

From my own limited exposure to the -47, it's a good bit bigger than a -46.  I could be wrong, but it just looks like a bigger helo on the ground.  I can't say that I've seen a -47 and a -46 side-by-side, so this could all be the ramblings of a madman.  The heat may be getting to me already, and we're not into the hot season yet!

"I think it may even be a Guns-A-Go-Go ACH-47A kit as well"

I should hope so...... I could be wrong but I'm pertty darn sure the GO GO Hooks were the only 'Heavy' armed Hooks in Nam?  ......and I think we are in luck cuz its Italeri who did the 1/72 scale Guns a Go Go version.

Speaking of 1/48 Helos.....Last weekend a large local model club had a big 'Model Show' ( not a contest ) at the the Museum of Flight here south of Seattle and there was a built 1/48 MRC CH46-E .....and I was kinds surprised how small that kit really is......NICE!.....but small......The Chinook is a bit larger and fatter than a Seaknight right???

If you ever visit this neck of the woods....you gotta visit the Museum! it is amazing and the new Wings of courage wing is two floors with the first all WWII aircraft including a F109E and of course a P-51D, P-40 War hawk and many more and the second floor is all WWI Aircraft....both floors have interactive displays....sit down flight simulators, scheduled shows and movies.

Straighten up and fly right.....

Italeri's new 1/48 ACH-47A that is supposed to come out later this year.  Shown here in their new, 2006 Catalog at the Nuremberg Toy Fair:

I think it may even be a Guns-A-Go-Go ACH-47A kit as well.

1:48 Italeri Chinook?

In "Scale Talk" (page 6) of the April 2006 FSM, the Editor noted that "although no 1/48 scale kit has been announced..."

However, on page 17 of that same issue, in the "2006 new kit releases" listing, a 1:48 CH-47A Chinook is listed under Italeri.  Is this just a typo?  I seem to recall seeing this listed elsewhere as well.

I can find no mention of a 1:48 Chinook on Italeri's site but can anyone confirm if Italeri has any tangible plans to produce a 1:48 Chinook?
