Sorry Frank.....had to clean out the ol' PC and lost my address book.

Question:

The Ramp on the old CH47-A's

Besides the top load/walk area.....was the lower recessed/side portions and the back (aft) of the ramp interior grey?

The 1/35 kit ramps dimentions are slightly off and if you want the wheel and troop extentions up in the stowed postions you gotta do some work there too.  I'm leaving mine off....but I did add the very back upper wall part of the ramp.  Gee....at that scale one would think that the ramp could have easily been hinged?

Interesting pic....OUCH!.....That part you see that has the angled lines is the part that I scratched along with rivits and some detail.

OK......I guess this next pic shows that the rear STRUT is definitly OD and it sure looks like the side portions of the ramp are grey......but in Nam was it the same????

I can't help it... I keep finding these great pics!.....This is a pretty cool GO GO photo.

Straighten up and fly right.....

Yes, all was grey except the topside, but after being used a few weeks, they turn different colors. Confused [%-)] Big Smile [:D]

Yes, they were the same... however, concerning the wheel struts, the example picture I posted earlier of the aft left gear well on "Easy Money", and you asked something about if it was OD or interior grey... well, you can't really use that picture as a color guide because the airframe had been sitting out in the elements for over 25 years.    I saw some gear struts painted black, some painted OD, and some were almost a camouflauge grey... it just depends on what aircraft you're going to make, and how much weathering you're going to apply.

Yes, that's "Co$t of Living", #64-13145, with the "Stars & Bars" bleeding through the OD along the oil slick just below the engines.   (also notice the color of the gear struts on Go-Go 5... they're grey, like the ramp sides)

 Thanks. Smile [:)]

Take care,

Frank

Troy,

"They wouldn't be saying stuff about me down at the VA if they'd keep the dad-burn bedpans on the bottom shelves like I tried to get them to... I get a *crick* in ma back jus reach'n for 'em!" Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]

Pharoah,

Well, when parts, components, and accessories are needed but do not exist, one can wait on them to show up in aftermarket, or do them ones self. Big Smile [:D]     Q: "But doesn't aftermarket supplies mean less trouble?"  A: "Only if you'd rather spend less time modeling!" Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

The Ramp .50 mount is basically a series of different shaped flat pieces; study pictures of the real thing, use paper or pieces of a model box to cut out and test fit individual pieces.... once all the pieces are the right size, cut them from sheet plastic and glue them together at the correct angles.      Wink [;)]

Take care,

Frank
