Honestly, I don't know which would be more difficult; painting this in 1:35 scale, or 1:1 scale! Daunting challenges each on their own, I'm sure; and the guys who pulled it off in both scales have a heck of a lot more talent and patience than me!

The full story and whereabouts from the above modeler's pics and description.

"This unique paintwork was applied to one of the Hungarian Air Force's Mi-24 helicopter. She received the nickname "Csőrike" (Tweetie) and was repainted for the Szentkirályszabadja Airshow held in 2000, Hungary. Currently the plane can be found in the Aircraft museum of Szolnok, Hungary."

I was unaware of the particulars until now, but doesn't that make a spectacular display, both in the air on on the shelf? Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks for the great pictures! Smile [:)]

Take care,

Frank

Yup, It is an MI-24E or F (hard to tell from the pics) Hind, Russian attack helo. It is/was used by pretty much all the former Soviet states and Soviet client states.

Yup, cool looking paint job.  Don't think the description is correct though.  This has been on this and other sites before.  It is/was actually a demonstrator for an airshow from some Eastern European country.  Don't think we own nor operate it in Afghanistan.  Soldiers in the pic don't look like they are in US BDU uniforms either.  Not even sure it is still flying in that paint shceme.

Someone was doing a model of it and hand-painting all the details etc.  It was looking great.
