I have finished restoring an S-58T Air rescue 5 I did some years ago.  It got a new nose from Cobra Company and some repainting.

I like it.  That's a sharp paint scheme you've got there.  If that's a restoration, it's a great one.  Job well done.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

A real kicken job there.  Very nice!  Nice to see another civilian helo.  Air-5 sure served its community well.  Last I knew, one of the old LACS 58's made up to Michigan flying for McMahon Helicopters doing lift work.

Job well done.

It looks great.  Ya gotta love the old S-58/H-34 series.  I just recntly slapped together Italeri's UH-34.  Mine looks horrible (not posting pics), but yours is beautiful.  One question though; Why is one blade painted with wide yellow and white bands?  Is that for tracking the rotor arch or something?

Is that 1/72nd?

Looks like Washington State Snohomish County Sheriff's colors.

Straighten up and fly right.....

Semper Fi,

Hi Chris,

a few years ago here in the UK there was an accident where a parachutist came down into a rotating helicopter disk as he couldn't tell it was rotating and by the time he couold I guess it was too late to do anything about it. Hence now our SAR Sea Kings have one blade with a yellow topside.

Regards

Paul

Ouch,

I guess that's one way to indicate that a rotor's turning.  I would think that a parachutist would want to avoid helicopters all together.  I wouldn't want to land on one that's flying, ground turning, or even parked.

Thanks for the info Paul, great model

Chris

Ridleusmc, To Answer your earlier question of why the color bands on the blade. Thsi helicopter primarily flys over US Forest Land. The Forest Service requires that helicopter rotors be striped or painted to distinguish a turnign rotor from a stopped one. It only needs to be one blade.  California Division of Forestry paints thier 205's one blade white one blade black, looks wierd on video!.  Most other agencies or contractors paint thier rotors red white red pateren, or yellow white yellow or a sililer combination, so long as it gives a pattern from above.  Its just asbad flying through a turning disk as floating through one.
