Thanks for the info on how to post pictures. As soon as the computer is loaded with the camera software I'll get the cockpit photos posted!

Take care,

Dan

Hi guys,

Phil, sorry to let you down but with work I'm not sure I can promise regular updates...think you can settle for infrequent ones at random late night hours? Smile [:)]

House projects and travel for work has left very little time. I've been trying to work on modifying the instrument panel and the lower center console to reflect the glass cockpit. Probably wasting too much energy on stuff you'll never see but it's fun. Is there a good previous post explaining how to add photos I should check out? I can take the photos - getting them here is the part I don't know. Thanks.

External airframe changes you can see are the transition access door and the naval windows rather than the Blackhawk windows in the cockpit doors. I think there's a slight difference in the way the cabin door is shaped on the lower forward side but I'd need to look at it more closely to be sure. It caught my eye the other day and then I forgot all about it promptly! I guess depending on what kit you started from too you'd need to take the fold mechanisms into account, too.

Firehawk Ordie, I'm not in HS-15, I work at Sikorsky. An HS-15 SH-3 at an airshow got me hooked on helos when I was little and now here I am testing them.

I'll keep you guys posted on this.

Take care,

Dan

Dan-
Excellent! Definitely interested, so regular updates (with pics!) would be great. Building an MH-60S is pretty high on my list of want-to-do projects, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. I have the same MH-60G kit on the shelf waiting, so I think we had generally the same approach in mind. Do you know if there are any airframe differences between the MH-60G and the MH-60S? Or is it just a matter of adding (and deleting) the right parts to the -G to make a Sierra? I'm an engineer at Pax River, and our Armed Helo test aircraft has been flying pretty regularly. Definitely a great looking helo.

Good luck, I'm looking forward to your progress.

MH-60S Armed Helo

Hi everyone,

A while back before I was on the road there was a post going on and I mentioned I was working on an MH-60S Armed Helo. Par429 had some questions and I appologize for not being able to get back to him and anyone else who was interested sooner.

I've started with the Italeri 1/48 MH-60G kit as the baseline. I've started work on the interior and that's about as far as I've gotten. This is the plan.....

I'm going to remove the weather radar and internal ammo handling system from the -60G. I'm going to modify or scratch build the internal tanks, the countermeasure dispensers, floor and the instrument panel to make them like the Sierra. I've got to update the head to make it look right and add things like the wings, some of the antennas, the FLIR and diving board, the ASE sensors and Sierra collective and cyclics. On top of that there are cabin mods to the seats, SAR bags/equipment and weapons.

To do it all I got two kits from Cobra - their HH-60H conversion and the MH-60L DAP wings. Keep in mind on the AHWS there will be the one-station wings not the ESSS. Now seeing as the HH-60H conversion kit will have parts I'm not using - and we can't have that - I've got a 1/48 SH-60B kit that will take the rest of the mods and I'm going to modify it into either an MH-60J or maybe an MH-60T.

If anyone's interested in knowing more let me know and I'll keep you all updated. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Take care,

Dan
