Need AH-6J interior wiring advice
Posted by AH1Wsnake on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 10:48 PM

Hey guys, I'm working on the little bird, and am trying to dress up the interior a little bit by adding some fine wiring to the radios and other avionics gear above the seats. My question is about how the wiring is routed down to the floor. If anyone has seen this first-hand, or has better references, I'd appreciate your input.

So far, I've identified a box on the kit part that I believe the wiring should run through. Perhaps it is not so much a box as it is a protective shroud for the wiring. Here's what I have so far, plus a reference pic I am basing this wiring off of. Let me know what you think.

And one more quick question: do the seat belt shoulder harnesses end at the reels right above the seats, or do the straps continue down the back side of the seat to the floor, like a Huey?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

Lemme see what I can dig up.  Shoulder harnesses should go all the way to the floor on the LB as well.  I don't have much on the LB, lots more on the Loach, but I may have access to some stuff.  I'll see what I can do for ya.

Andy,

Straps do not continue anywhere - cuz there is a feeding mechanizm right on top of each seat - kit does have them too (looks like cylinder) Same system as car seat belts.

About the wiring... It looks like some of LB have this wire web behaind the right seat and some behind the left one...

Jon and Intruder, thanks for the replies.

Intruder;
Yes, I saw the cylinder mechanism on top of the kit seats, was just wondering if those were the actual take-up reels, or if they were just rollers that redirected the straps back down to the floor. I'm leaning towards them being the actual take-up reels themselves, since the cabin floor looks pretty crowded with that plank in there.

And yep, I do see the wiring exists on both sides of the cabin there; I just added it to the boxes on the right side last night. I'll also plan on adding some wiring out on the plank for the rocket pods and guns.

There are some with radio just on right hand side and nothing on left...

BTW. I am almost done with my AH-6 (I made radio on left side) so might be able to post some pics here or on ARC by the end of this week.

Cant wait to see yours too, Andy

Nice pic, I haven't seen that one yet. It gives me a better idea of how the rocket cables are routed along the front side of the plank. I also see how I need to give the front of my rocket pods that metallic finish. Good luck on your project, I look forward to seeing it.

Thanks intruder_bass, but I don't think I'll spend 30 Euro (approx the same ammount in USD) + shipping. Guess I'll have to wait to sse it in one of the Hobby shops around here.

Looks great. I really like the weathering job on the fuselage. I take it that some Cobra Company accessories were used? Those miniguns look a little better than my box-stock ones.

That is one gorgeous Killer Egg you've got there!  The subtle shading of the fuselage, and the top-notch work on the weapons and intruments are all just amazing.  Those CC miniguns look like they're well worth the money, too.  Wow!

Hopefully this will be of some assistance:
