This may be a long shot, but have you ever heard of MiKu Model from the Czech Republic? Back in 2000, they produced a limited edition 1/72nd scale kit of the Cheyenne, only they labelled it as the "Lockheed AH-54 A Cheyenne"; mind you, they did get it right in a few places. Catalogued as 72-066, it features 54 resin and 74 photo-etched parts, and the decals allow you to build one of the following: 66-8827, 8829, 8831, or 8835. Be as it may, I have had it in storage since I purchased it back in 2001.

I think Anigrand did a resin one a while back. I do not see it listed on their item catalog, but you can contact them to see if it is or ever was available. If you click on future releases and browse their catalog, you may see stuff you want.

I've bought from them on eBay and their website and have not had a problem. I know they have sellers here in the States.

Hey Heliguy, welcome to the forum! To answer your ? I did just that, bought an Aurora AH-64 off  epay. I haven't built it yet but bought it with the intention of doing it. I have a bunch of lockheed propaganda stuff from the program and it has always been my fav heli. If you search through the back threads you will find we've had many discussions on the bird! BWY I paid the princly sum of $49.00 dollars for mine which has been an influence on not mstarting it!9Maybe someone will put one out again at a decent price(1/72nd)    Good Hunting, G.W.

I know Cobrahistorian started a thread several months ago to try and push a major manufacture in doing a Making a 1/48th scale kit of the Cheyenne, we need to keep push those compnaies into making these kits for us. Write or e-mail them, maybe it will help. I know I've been trying for a 1/48th Chinook since the mid 70's, finally one this year(I hope)

I'm tryin.  A 48th Cheyenne is my goal, just depends on who's gonna do it.  Revell actually indicated a slight interest, so I'm hoping to pursue that further.  If you need any reference material, lemme know.

Don,

I basically emailed Revell Germany, since they appear to be dealing with all of R-M's new aircraft subjects.  Just hit their website contact info and start bombarding them!

Hey everyone, are you all getting this e-mail? cause i'm getting it every time. I'ts probably automated.

thank you very much for your e-mail and your interest in our products.

Your product proposals and comments are collected and then checked for their
marketability. Due to the large number of comments and letters we receive, it is
not possible to include all the products proposed. The selection of new models
is based on a variety of criteria, including of course market analyses. We do
our best to offer a comprehensive range covering various themes.

Nevertheless we thank you very much for your suggestions and we will include
them into our proposal list for the coming years.

Regards,
S. Haller

Will,

That's the usual standard reply.  When I emailed them and offered to share all of the data I have on the bird, they actually sent me human reply instead of the automated deal.  Keep those emails coming, though. They've gotta have SOMEONE reading them.  I don't know about you guys, but I NEED a kit of the Cheyenne in 48th....

I am hoping this thread died because the AH-56A finally came out in 1/48.  I suddenly feel the need to own one.

Who makes it? Just did a quick google and no luck. Any links?

I've been thinking about this chopper recently. I have an ancient Popular Mechanics mag from the 60s that did a write up on it.

I'm still working on it guys.  No one's put one out yet, but I haven't given up hope.  Since Aurora is coming back and they've done one in 72nd already, they may be our best bet.

Around 2000/2001, one of the UK modelling magazines, possibly SAMI published pics of test shots of a 1/48 Cheyenne from Cobra Company but noting more was ever heard about them and Cobra never responded to any inquiries about it. Also, if you want to work on it, a guy called lee White over on LSP has a 1/32 vac Cheyenne he built nad indictaed that he might be willing to pop some more off the molds...

Cobra Company has a 1/48th AH-56 Cheyenne. Cobra Company does not have the need to respond on the progress we make on any of our projects. There are many difficulties in bringing a project, ANY project from concept to production. Cobra Company wanted to have an SH-60B and SH-60F kit. Those kits were developed with many hours of research, mastering, learning satisfactory production techniques AND trying to find ways of doing it at price that would make it within reach of potential buyers. That series was shown at the same time the AH-56 was shown. Cobra Company NEVER EVER CAME CLOSE to making back the value invested in making that project come true.  Now an injection molded kit exsists at 1/7th of the cost Cobra Company sold the SH-60 kits for. All that work got blown away in the blink of an eye. SO if Cobra Company does succeed in making the AH-56 project come about, the production will be EXTREMELY LIMITED and only those people who are TRULY motivated to pay the price will have one. If you are even remotely thinking about asking what that price may be, you can't afford it so don't ask. And the HH-65 project running, yeah I have a project running. And since folks have noticed how crappy the HH-65 kit is how easy do you think it is to try and deal with correcting it? By good fortune, Joseph at Fireball Modelworks was able to hash out some of the exterior shortcomings. But, the interior shortcomings are that the kit interior DOESN'T EXSIST in the correct configuration AND the model contours and breakdown make it IMPOSSIBLE to do it correctly without basically issueing a WHOLE NEW FUSELAGE. How easy do you think it is to try and find a way to convince the eye that what it sees is right when what is right CAN'T BE DONE within reasonable means at the level people want it to happen? Cobra Company keeps its' work out of the public conversation because that conversation is of no help whatever in getting things done. Cobra Company is ONE PERSON, from start to finish. That person is ME.

Came across a book you might be interested in (while waiting for something tangeable) it's in the Warbird Tech Series, Vol 27, Lockheed AH-56A Cheyenne, by Tony Landis and Dennis R. Jenkins, ISBN 1-58007-027-2.  There is an address Specialty Press, 11605 Kost Dam Rd, North Branch, MN 55056. And a phone number 651-583-3239

The book has 100 pages (soft cover) with photos (B&W, some color) technicial illustrations, and of course narritive. Excellent references for us model builders.

Well... I guess the cat's out of the bag on that one...

Well, as Chris said, he is Cobra Company, that's it.  He's got plenty of requests for new update/detail sets, and as he's said, the HH-65 detail set is his priority right now.  I've seen the prototypes and they're GORGEOUS.  I've also seen the Cheyenne.  If it happens, it will be expensive for sure, but I know that I'll be ordering two (much to my wife's dismay).

Chris knows he can count on me for whatever support he needs.  If everyone here is similarly-minded, something as fantastic as a 48th scale AH-56A may just happen.  We in the helicopter modeling world had a big scare earlier this year with the possibility that CC would be closing up shop.  Thankfully there was enough of a groundswell of support that that didn't happen.  All I can say is be patient

In the meantime, enjoy:

Picked up a Cheyenne (aurora) a few years back when cleaning an old friend's house out.

Discovered the rotor blades were missing.

Bought another helicopter kit (can't recall the name, think it was a Jolly Green Giant) on the recommendation that the blades were very close to the original Aurora blades.

Any suggestions?
