1/32 BK-117 Nose Cone
Posted by AirMedical on Sunday, May 14, 2006 11:12 AM

Hey gang!

O.k.  The weather has been too cold and rainy to do any spraying.  So I managed to get caught up on my third BK (Medevac 2) officialy mounting the nose cone, WSP's, etc.  Now she's ready for primer and base white.  I made 8 nose cone molds off my main master to vac-form in one setting for reserve and in case of the dreaded goof up.  I will revise the nose some for a revision in the future.  But hey, it works.  I think I'm officialy the first ever to do the 1/32 BK-117 nose cone.  We're on our way!!!!  Whoo-hoo!

BK w/ nose cone1.

BK w/ nose cone 2

BK w/ nose cone 3

Hope all is well with all.

Cheers,

John

Hey Frank!

Thanks.  I guess no one ever decided to do a nose cone in 1/32.  Only 1/72 which was solid resin. I can't wait to get the paint started.

BTW, did you ever get my email from a couple weeks back?  If not, drop me an email here.

Oh, congrats on Guns A Go-go!

John,

Looking good!  Glad to see you found the time to hang out on the workbench.  Wife just went to nights, so I hope to take advantage of her sleeping during the day and get to work with the parts you sent me.  Take care.

Hey Todd!

It's been a while.  I wondered how those parts worked out for ya.  I look forward to seeing that when you're all finished.  I know what you can do with 1/72 so I can imagine what it will look like in 1/32.  Bigger is better! Wink [;)]

The weather broke for this weekend in that I was able to put down some prime and final coats.  I'm looking for a spare 1/32 BK-117 windshield. Yeap, she broke in two on me.  I've contacted Revell Ger. twice but nothing has shown up in the mail.  It's been two months.  I may have to try and scratch one out of clear styrene. Yikes!  I also lost a BK chin bubble.  Not sure how I did that.  Duh!

So far, here's the latest.

BK w/ nose cone primed.

Green BK (Med Flight 5) Almost decal time!

The BK trio.

Be sure to post the work progress on the 412!  Good hearing from ya.  Hope all is well.

John

Thank you for your kind words!
Oh yah!  Actaully, the guy I'm doing these for has an awsome digital camera and I'm looking to have him to the final photos.  I'm hoping we can take some pics of the Medevac 1 & 2 replicas with the actual aircraft.  Medevac 2 is stationed about 8 miles from my house and the guys are excited to see the finished product.

The green one was the worst of the kits.  I'm very shocked how well it turned out.  As for flawless, theirs some minors here and there.  The pictures being of a low resolution helps.  Hee-hee!!!

We'll be in touch!
Cheers,
John
