Hi,                                                                                                                                                            I was wondering if the cobra update set for the ch-53 interior, will fit the Academy kit or just the revell kit?                                                                                                                                                           Thankyou,                                                                                                                                                  Ted.

I know this isn't a reply to your question, but I was curious about your name, electric linemen. I'm a long time collector of the old glass insulators (nearly thirty years) and I've got over 300 of them. Most are the smaller ones for telephone and telegraph lines, but I have a few larger power pieces.

Hi Jim,

I work on the powerlines, we work on voltage from 12000 to 33000 volts. It. sounds like you have quite the collection. We used to have the green, blue & white glass insulators, but now we have the porcelin type& poly type.

Too bad I don't have a digital camera or a photo scanner where I could post a picture or two of my collection. What power company do you work for?

It's my understanding that it's for the Revell CH/HH-53 kits and a companion to the 1/48 Cobra Company MH-53J conversion set. Not having seen the Academy kit, I couldn't tell you if the parts would fit or not (though if you really wanted to, it would be possible to modify some parts to fit), but the catch is, a good number of the parts are specific to the Pave Low and would not be suited for an accurate Super Stallion.

Is the revell kit that you're speeking of the CH-53G?  You may be able to use some of the parts, but probably not all, because the H-53A's,B's,C's, D's, G's, and J's have about the same cabin dimensions.  However, the CH-53E has a longer cabin.  There will be some trimming and fitting involved.  Cabin Pics of the CH-53E are available here.

Look under the heading of CH-53E reference.
