I bought "The Rock" the other day and when I first saw the movie years ago I thought the helicopter that the SEAL's use to insert into the water was a Sea King.  Now I know more about helicopters and know the Sea King doesn't have a ramp in the back... I think it's a Super Frelon, which the neither the US Navy or US law enforcement use.  If anyone knows/thinks it's something different please say so.

I have not seen the film in awhile but... it may have been the Sea Kings cousin used by the Air Force and the Coast Guard the HH-3 Jolly Green Giant/Pelican (respectively).  Looks like a cross between a Sea King and Sea Stallion. Being a Sikorsky product it shares the same lineage. It would be nice to see one of these in 1/48...

Here is the Air Force variant SAR bird

Yesterday I was thinking the engines are too big and the side door behind the cabin is wrong , but I was thinking of a Sea Stallion.  You're right... I had no idea a Super Frelon looked so much like a Jolly Green.  Thanks for the pics.

Yeah, why not?  I'll take one as well!  It'd look good next to my skyraider on the shelf.

A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.
