Hey all,

Took this today as we hovered by on our way to the pad.  That's my buddy "Carbomb" checking his bird's prostate.... um... I mean getting a fuel sample....

SEVEN MORE DAYS IN THE TH-67!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled FSM programming

Jon

Haha.
Sorry Jon gotta laugh,a pilot on the ground, under an aircraft, doing something!
(Be careful, some nastier aircrews would have you unsuspecting lads checking relief tubes. . .Shock [:O])

Ah, the good ole day's, never saw a pilot do that if one of us knuckledraggers was around.

When you get a real a/c, hope it wasn't one of those that I logged time in more years ago then I care to remember

How do you know it's done right if the crew chief didn't do it? Wink [;)]

Is that the Instructor Pilot by the nose?  I see we have a Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper fan in the "AO".

Clear Left!

Nope, that's one of the maintenance guys.  The IP was just to the left of the frame.  I was sitting in the backseat of 06E at the time.  These TH-67A+'s are beautiful! They're all spankin new, 03G in the pic here has less than 700hrs TT on her.  06E was at about 550 hours.  Man do they handle well!

As for us doing our own preflights, yep. We have to learn everything and we do it all.  Not sure how it is for advanced aircraft, but during IERW/BWS, we do everything.

Looks like I'll be starting the AH-64 course on 8 Aug if all goes well.  First major hurdle there is a 5&9 test that has to be passed with a minimum 95% for a go.  Everything has to be from rote memory.

Oh... and if we fail it twice... no more Apaches.

....and they won't let me start studying until after my checkride!

That reminds me of one of the days that I was under a cobra taking out a panel to inspect something on the flightline.  It was hot as hell out that day and my friend came out to see what I was doing.  When came to the cobra he noticed that I was asleep with the screwdriver on one of the screws and I was dead asleep.  Pretty funny and embarrasing at the same time.
