Both are still used in Iraq.  AH-1W and HH-60H images are plentiful on the net.  Just do a Google Image search for them.

AH-1W pics can be found at Prime Portal's Airstrip.

HH-60H pics here.

More AH-1W and HH-60 pics.

Two Bobs Aviation Graphics did a decal sheet for the AH-1W that included birds in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it is now out of production.  Not sure about decals for the 1/72 HH-60H, its not in my scale.

Good luck.

Curtis,

If you're wanting to do a 100% accurate OIF Cobra, you'll need Cobra Company's NTS upgrade.  That'll bring your MRC Cobra up to current standard.  Its a really good kit without that, but the upgrade really makes it shine.

No it will not , the Cobra Comp update set is out of date. the tail pips need to be updated. this is the new Ejecters for the W.

Looks pretty cool.  When did that come about?  Suffice it to say that the CC set will give you a pretty current AH-1W.  I'm sure most operating in Iraq still have the standard exhaust nozzle set-up.  Any more pics of them?

From what I know the new tailpipe mod is very recent.  OIF 1-4 birds didn't have em.  Most birds from what I've seen still have the regular angled exhausts.  My stick buddy just came from -267 (came over to the Army so he could be a Warrant Officer and fly) and I had to tell him that the birds in his old squadron now had the flat exhausts.  He did 2 tours in Iraq with them and they all had the old exhaust style.

Glad to see the new exhausts coming in, as they REALLY reduce the IR signature, but they aren't the standard just yet.

Jon

Gino, I've got a bunch of pics.  Stdby and I'll post em.

The CC set isn't out of date just yet. Those tail pipes are very very new (within the last six months IIRC) and since OIF started in March 2003 and OEF in late 2001, the CC NTS set is still fine for building a Whiskey Cobra in Iraq or Afghanistan

Yeah, but you should see what it does for the IR signature!

OIF 1 standard (common) armament was 4 Hellfires starboard, 4 TOWs port, and 7-shot rocket pods on both inside stations. As the war has progressed, less PGM's have been carried...maybe 1 or 2 Hellfire/TOW combo.

8 Hellfire config:

4 TOW left side:

2 Hellfire, 2 TOW, rockets

Hellfire and rocket combo:

And sorry, SSgtD, but the Cobra Company AH-1W detail set is still very accurate for any current-service bird. The new-exhaust Whiskeys are very much the exception, not the rule.

Good luck on finding the Two Bobs decals, they have been OOP for a while.  Best place tp get teh CC set is from Cobra Company directly.

Gino, I believe the "Whiskeys in the Mix" sheet is still sold out at Twobobs, I just checked.

Curtis, did you possibly order the new Twobobs sheet: "AH-1W HMLA-169 Shark Mouth Vipers Cobra"? It's their new one, 1/48 and 1/35 decals on one sheet, and will build a bad-a$$ Cobra. However, the photos I saw of the actual plane were from an airshow/open house on the west coast, and I am not sure this bird ever saw combat in this scheme. Still, it'll make a nasty-looking snake!

just an after thought. are you able to order online from cc or do you have to use the order form?

Correct. The decals for HML/A-269 Gunrunners aircraft modex number "06" will make a bird from OEF and OIF. The same artwork saw both theatres. Take heart though, if you are still really intent on finding some OIF/OEF decals, I see that both MAW Decals and Orion Models (Dave Roof) will be coming out with some 1/48 Marine skid decals soon, and Dave Roof has said that his will be in 1/35 as well.
(I hope more news on these releases warrant an updated Heli-Kit News page)

I have used Cobra Company's online ordering system before with no problems.

The Whiskeys in the Mix sheet does include ODS, OIF, and OEF (Afghanistan) cobra schemes.  You can order online from CC.  Click on the Huey "Order" silhouette at the bottom of each item page.
