Curtis,

The kits I have are marked 1977 on the old Monogram boxes.  The kit isn't bad but it isn't totally accurate either.  Lots of little details to correct, the main one being the vertical fin.  It needs to have a wider cord and a little camber in it.  www.cobracompany.com has a resin "update" set that has the correct fin along with more accurate weapons systems and pilots armored seats.  The 40 mm turrent wouldn't be carried on a bird that has the quad "60's" or mini-guns because of the weight factor.  Usually "thumper" birds carried the 7 shot or 19 shot rocket pods only.   You could plug the hole in the aft cabin roof were the front "scoop" is in front of the transmission.  I elimated the "blob" on top of the transmission and made a swashplate and collective levers to detail it out.  Those are main issues with the kit.  If you want more info E-mail me.

Clear Left!

Mel pretty much nailed it, also Marine weapons differed from Army, check your references good. All our heavy hogs carried 19 shot pods, 7were carried on mini-guned birds
