Your opinion on AFV club Super Cobra
Posted by Yann Solo on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 11:22 AM

I bought the AFV Club Super Cobra #35S21 on my last trip to my LHS.  I had it for $18 which is I think a very good deal.  I've open the box and it looks like a pretty kit.

Does anybody have built this kit before?  How is it?

I know it is not available on any website I know.  Here is an image of the cover box:

It has a resin turret for the gun underneath the cabin.

The instructions are in chinese or something like that.

Also, the symbol on the chopter represent which country?

If it is the 1/35 Tiawan Army kit, it is a reboxed Academy AH-1W with a couple extra resin parts to make the Tiawan version.  The basic Academy kit is a great kit.  Here is a review on it.

By the way, $18 is a steal.  Good buy.

I had heard that this boxing includes metal barrels for the 20mm gun. True?

Also, at $18 bucks, would you please go back to the store and pick up a couple more for me? What a steal!!!

Yes there is a metal barrel and a resin turret.  This was the only one they had on their shelves but they also have around 15 AFV club jeep and they sell them for $15 or two for $20.  I had no money left so I didn't buy it but I'll try to go back shortly.  Hopefully there will be some left.

Hey thats my old review! Forgot about that lol. Anyway, the kit is just the same one as the MRC/Academy except the addition of the resin turret, three metal barrels for the 20mm, and Taiwainese markings. I bought the kit just for the decals.

I would pay 18 bucks just for barrels and resin turret.

Anybody have the pic of extra goodies?

Thanks for pics!

So the turret still made with bottom "closed"...  the gun mechanizm has to be done

Barrels looks great though. Are they drilled out too? Hard to see there..

The pictures doesn't show the level of detail very well.  The resin parts have excellent definition and yes the barrels are drilled out on the tip.

here is what I mean

I was hoping that AFV club has something like Verlinden kit + metal barrels...

Verlinden kit is a bit pricy from my point of view.
