Great looking build.  It looks well detailed, especially for 72 scale.  The paint and weathering looks increadible.  The S-58 series, with its high cockpit and bulbus, nose always looked odd to me.  The Wessex seems especially interesting because of that huge chin intake for the turbine engine.  Great build.  The RAF colors look awesome

Hi Allan,

Great pics and a great looking model. What is the box number of this model? I've just finished off a matchbox wessex and really enjoyed building it, but would like to do an Italeri one as I believe the mouldings are a lot finer plus you get a lot more detail with it. If possible I'd like to build one with internal detail such as crew seats etc. Anyone out there know which one that is?

Many thanks,   Rich

Thanks, Will!

The Italeri kit is nice. Good details, good decals (thankfully). The tail rotors point the wrong way, though, so youd have to cut them off the hub, reposition and reattach them.  The main rotor blades are molded in the drooped position, but I felt the droop wasnt realistic --- the droop occurs in the middle of the blade.  AFAIK, the droop should begin near the hub, where the stress is, and begin to taper off from there.  So I manually straightened out each blade, and added droops nearer to the hub.

Allan,

Nice job on the finish - looks just like the real thing!  Good to see an RAF machine, too.
