Large scale Pave low
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 2, 2006 2:14 PM
Hi all,

I've been out of the modelling scene for a few years and thought I'd like to get back into it. Ideally I'd like to build some of the large scale models and am particularly interested in  1/32 or 1/35 MH-53J Pave Low or MH-60G Pave Hawk models - that is if anyone makes one!

If anyone knows of any super details large scale modern helicopters such as those listed above, please let me know.

Thanks

Academy makes a 1/35 scale MH-60G that is fairly common at hobby shops.  I saw one today for the regular retail price of $60.00.  Squadron Mail order has it as well for a little bit less...

Hope this helps.

Cobra Company makes an update and detail resin set for the MH-60G kit mentioned above for $30. Also useful would be their Blackhawk Weapons Set and their UH-60L Correction\Detail Set for $10 and $12 respectively. Eduard Accessories makes an interior and exterior photoetched detail sets for the UH-60L as well. Just do a search for them on the great models website.

Oh baby.  The 1/35th MH-60G and all of those little goodies add up to make one nice model.  With the MH/HH-60G update set from Cobra Company, you can make either an HH-60G or an MH-60G (now, they are all called HH-60G, not sure what year it started) and they include the center mounted radar for the Pavehawks from Nellis.

I built one earlier this year, and I just used the MH/HH-60G update set and the exterior PE.  The exterior PE is a MUST!  The resin and the Interior overlap a lot in the cockpit, so I just went with the resin, because they include the auxillary controls.

Thanks for the info guys. I like the look of the Academy 1/35 Pave Hawk and I have discovered I only live down the road from www.Modelsforsale.com, so Ill be making a visit soon!

I guess the largest '53 of any flavour is 1/48th?  Shame as It'd be a superb model! Can you imagine it?

While Im on the subject of large scale heli's, does anyone know what the largest scale 'modern' SeaKing is that's available?

Thanks again

Most likely the Hasegawa 1:48th SH-3 offering.
