Alby theat is one great looking build.
I think that my Brown on this build is way to reddish like but not to worry just a littlw mistake to improve on in the future.
Thanks to all who chipped in on this one it all helped.

Sorry, I missed the gun!  The gun is GFE and is not repainted.  I walked out to the delivery hanger to verify the gun colors.  When the Apaches leave here, the turret fork, gun cradle, and wire strike frame are helo drab.  The gun is flat black.  The barrel is metallic semi-gloss black.  The muzzle break (I think that is the right word) is gunmetal.

One thing to note if you are building the Peten (AH-64A) in the three tone Tiger Scheme, the brown is a slightly darker version of FS30145 (Isradecal 2003 IDF Helicopters Painting Guide). The landing gear on these birds are painted the bottom-color gray (with the exception of a few that received new legs at the time of overhaul), and the blast deflector panels on the bottom of the stabilator are either painted over, or left off (either way, the whole stabilator bottom is gray). The rotor head and associated gear, tail rotor, and TADS/PNVS turret are still FS31034 CARC green Drab.

HTH,

Alby

Robert,

The wire-strike frame around the cannon is still helo drab.  According to the IsraDecal paint guide, the entire underside is gray, although it is pretty narrow along the tailboom.

Dickc24, welcome aboard!

Thanks Jon and dickc24
Have already put a base coat down and now i am starting to mask off the helo drab areas followed by the cammo patern. Is the whole underside of the bird painted grey including the uderside of the weapons pylon.
Also would i be safe to paint the chain gun Helo Drab or do i paint it Gun metal?
Thanks Heaps
Cheers

The components that are delivered to the factory already painted with the topcoat color of Helo Drab are not repainted.  This includes the rotor head (main and tail), rotor support, upper flight controls and the main and tail landing gear.  GFE is also painted helo drab.  These components are the TADS/PNVS on the nose and the FCR above the main rotor.  The customer wanted the entire aircraft in camo paint, but Boeing would not repaint parts that were already painted.  I have not asked the Materials and Processes folks here in Mesa if the camo paint as the same radar properties as the Helo Drab.

From what I've seen, the nose turrets and turret mount are Helo Drab, as are the main gear, rotor hub, pitch housings and Fire Control Radar.

Hey there!

According to the IsraDecal AH-64D sheet, the four Saraf colors are:

FS36492 Israeli Brown, FS33448 Sand, FS30219 Gray, and FS34031 Helo Drab.

Here's a link to see what they look like.
