Guys, Revell CH-53GS to CH-53D, is it possible?

I'm really not digging the German scheme, already have an all green 53 so I cannot bear myself to do another... so I was thinking... What about a USMC bird?

Anyone has any idea of what would it take to convert it to the D? Kit comes with both standard and composite blades and stuff. I'm leaning towards an all grey scheme or a grey/green/black one but I cannot find much references or paint instructions on these.

Any info, pictures, links etc will be greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Paint it gray then put Marine decals on it. that is what I did. HMH-463 ,HMH-362 and HMH-363 are the Squadrons.

Thanks SSgt!

BTW Any ideas of where I can get some decals?, I managed to find the MARINES part in the spare boxes but Squadron insignia and such is going to be a bear.

Also, any info on the FS #...

Thanks again.

That's the kit I used to make my "D".

Sorry the pic didn't come through. I just don't understand why it's so difficult to post on this site? Others are so very easy! I don't know what "image tags" and all of that other technical mumbo-jumbo means.

Hello Helo_Joe,

The picture you included as_ gray_/green/black might need to be confirmed before you actually paint.

I've had Crew Chiefs tell me as well as show pictures and they stated it was more of a blue. I tried

to build a kit for a fellow -53 bubba and I used..duck egg blue.. that still needed to be lightened.

The model picture that was sent to you is actually of a Navy hand-me-down, it's a RH-53D in

Marine colors. If you really want to make that kit into a true CH bear in mind you'll need to remove

the refueling probe mount dimple off of the pilot's lower chin bubble window.. as a starter.

How you don't mind this input, if I can help..holler.

Brian

He's right, my model is a RH-53D not a CH-53D, my mistake. Like he said the CH doesn't have a refueling probe. The things you learn here!

Hi! Thanks Rescuehawk, lovely build you got there... very nice. Where did you get those decals from?

I'd be proud if mine comes out half as nice as yours!.

Also, I believe Marines CH uses the standard rotor blandes right? not the composite variety found on Es and the GS?

Thanks again guys.

Thanks for the heads up Brian, will check the colors. As said I'm still lacking decals so I dunno if I'd go grey or camo.

Yeah that IFR probe quickly grabbed my atention as I didn't know USMC 53-Ds had that feature (then again I am no expert as you can tell)...  call me whatever but I kinda like the look of it with that probe. Will try to hunt for some RH pictures online to see what pops up.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the help.

No sweat 'hawk, I wasn't aware that RH had the IFR probe, and now that I see it I kinda like the looks of it. Will try to hunt for some picts online to see what I come up with. Maybe I'll end up doing one myself.

Thank you very much sir.

Thanks Helo Joe. The star and bar came from the scrap box, the MARINES and other stuff was made by my wife on the computer.
From what I can tell, the D uses the standard blades. But what do I know. (refueling probe on a D, how dare me!) I think it might come off.
