Nice Find!!!

This is identical to what I worked on in Germany (2/3 AVN , 3rd ID) from  86-88.  S models changed the designation to F (full modernized).  We ddin't have the fancy paint, tho....just green with colored tailcones to designate which company it belonged to.  The colored tailcones got oversprayed not long after I arrived.

Looks like I have my next display idea!  Great pictures, thanks for sharing with us!

This is actually a Mod S with new style blades.  Looks like Ft Dodge?  This may have been a G, then Q then Mod S.  Do we have a tail number?

Hey Cobra,
We have this one stashed away on base here in Iowa.  Its a G model, but its still in flyable condition.  This one sits with a ton of other historic vehicles [all still working] up near the barracks, but we also have an F model down in the motorpool with the Abrams.  Its still flyable, and still listed as active with the aviation unit.  But they wont let us touch her.  Too bad, theres a lot of us in aviation here that want to fly her.

Yep! That's an 11th ACR (Armored Cavalry Regiment) AH-1F.  Too bad they took the tail number off of her.  I'm intrigued though, it still has its TOW sighting turret and the canopy panes haven't been covered to prevent crazing.  Those are two things that are pretty standard when putting a Cobra on display.  Heck, even the one out at Cobra Hall (II) at Hanchey has the turret removed!

Man I'd love to fly one of those....

It is depicted as an 11 ACR AH-1F.  Looks pretty good.  Nice find.

I was on my way to a client's site, and this caught my eye at 7am in the morning.  I grabbed my nikon the second day (today!) and shot these on my way back home.  I don't know what unit it belonged to from the heraldry, but if i remembered correctly someone did mention there aren't that many units who used the sharkmouth, or maybe it's just an artistic addition added later on.  Anyways, hope you guys will enjoy it.
