AH-1W Super Cobra taiwan question?
Posted by Yann Solo on Thursday, October 5, 2006 7:53 AM

I have the AFV Club AH-1W Super Cobra Taiwan version on my shelf and I want to build it as a US Marine Corps helicopter.  Do you think the model is the same.  Is the model ok for these decals:

Twobobs decals do say that it will fit on Academy/MRC AH-1W Super Cobra kits and I thinkl the AFV Club one is a reboxing of the old Academy.  Am I right?

You are correct on all accounts.  The AFV Club kit is a reboxed Academy AH-1W with a few added resin and metal parts to replace some of the plastic ones.  It will build into a Marine AH-1W straight from the box.

Good luck.

Cool!  Now I have to buy the NTS conversion kit and the Twobobs decals.  Man that hobby is expensive.Wink [;)]

Kind of.
It will build an early AH-1W, but not the one depicted in the TwoBobs decals. Still need the CC NTS conversion.

Never said it would build up to a current or late model AH-1W NTS, neither will the Academy snake.  The kit is an early AH-1W.  The older Two Bobs "Whiskeys in the Mix" sheet has decals for ODS-era, non NTS snakes too.

The first post asked if the model was ok for the decal sheet he posted (latest TwoBob hi-vis), so technically, the model does need the CC update for that particular decal sheet. I was just aiming to clarify.

Don't worry, Gino, you know I'm never trying to bust your balls here Wink [;)]

No problem.  My cannonballs are unbreakable.  Just keeping everything straight.
