New Israeli Helicopter build to share (pics)

Hi Guys,

I just wrapped another project from Moore's Plastic Rotary Wing Werks, this time a 1/72 Hasegawa UH-60A Black Hawk in IDF/AF markings. The Black Hawk in IDF service goes by the name of 'Yanshuf', Hebrew for Night Owl. This model represents one of the first Black Hawks to go into service with the Israeli Air Force (mid-1994). The only additions I made to the model is a cable cutter w/ braces (top of the forward fuselage), IDF-specific blade antenna (lower tail boom), and an IR jammer from an AH-1 Cobra kit, otherwise it was built mostly from the box. The finish is Model Master Acryl Helo Drab, with a thinned coat of Helo Drab enamel to subdue the Arcyl coat and blend the decals into the finish. The decals themselves are from Isradecal (IAF-10 Yellow ID V's and IAF-11 IAF Helicopters), with kit decals used for the general data markings and stencils. Acryl Dull coat brought it all to a nice, flat finish.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,

Alby

Looks great.  The subtle weathering looks very realistic.  That Cobra looks awesome too.

Hi Alby,

They both look fantastic, even more so in this scale. I've got the Hasegawa one in the pile waiting. Was it an easy build? I'll probably build it to a Desert Storm hawk and use the Aztec decals for it.

Once again, nice build and thanks for posting the pics.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the kudos. The Hasegawa kit wasn't too difficult fit wise. The only area that is kind of tricky to deal with is the fit of the windscreen. It took quite a bit of super glue and Gunze Mr. Surfacer 500 to blend it in to the fuselage (may have been my prep work though too). Other than that, it fell together easily. If I may make a suggestion, get a hold of Italeri's 1/72 Desert Hawk for the interior parts and exterior bits. The Hasegawa kit is lacking in detail on both counts.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Cheers,
