Bell 309 King Cobra info needed
Posted by NASA 736 on Saturday, November 4, 2006 1:21 PM

Was rooting through my parts box the other day and came across remains of  my old attempt at a 309 King Cobra. (circa 1976)  Only the detail parts survived, nose, some tail parts, the "Wortman" main rotor assy, and the like. As a stand off scale attempt goes, it wasn't half bad.

So I think I'd like to try to reconstruct the original and improve on what went before.  The plan thus far is to cross breed the 1/32 Revell AH-1G, and one of my two AH-1Ws.

To my surprise I still have my original info in my morgue (not much more than a couple of pictures really).  Search of the "net" however,  has turned up little but a picture of the Army version and some written info.  So I figured if anybody knew, it would be the guys here that might know of some sources for information on either the Army or the Marine versions of the machine.

Best regards,

Chuck

Squadron's "AH-1 in Action" has a page on it with a couple of photo's, I don't know how much help it will be though.

Chuck,

Drop me an email.  One of the 309s is in storage here at Ft. Rucker and I've got a couple pics of it.  They aren't the best, but I've got a few detail shots of the sensor turret and the cowlings.
