Thanks Ordie, I think I found those same manuals.   I also found a reference from a Nasa publication that said the stripes are 2' wide.   So I think I am close.   I was hoping to hear from some of our service men to verify my research.

here are some jpeg images that i got from a safety hand book.  it does not give dimensions but you can estimate the size pretty good. hope they help out.

I asked this question a few months back in the ship section and did not get a good response.   Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the landing spot markings on an assault carrier.
