Still cant get my hands on a 1/48 Eurocopter Tigre?
Posted by Chris_in_Japan on Friday, November 24, 2006 7:15 AM

Hi guys, I pop in every now and then, and ask the same question about the Eurocopter "Aussie" Tigre in 1/48 scale...

Cobrahistorian said that he had seen the kit, but that was the last I heard.. I really would like to get this kit to do an Aussie Tigre in 1/48 scale..

Chris,

I've got a little spare time now and I just saw one the other day over at "The Hangar".  Lemme get you a price on it and we can work something out.

Chris

Are you telling me you haven't seen either the Revell or the Italeri  kit at all in your part of the world? Geez dude, what's goin' on over there. Do yourself a favour, get one of those & then contact defencemodels.com to get the update set he's done. Cobrahistorian did the very same thing.

Chris,

Defencemodels.com has a resin update set that includes the cannon and turret, corrected exhausts, rotor "chinese hat", new accurate wings and the sensor turret.  The intake covers are also included, but they don't look like any I've seen on the Aussie Tigres as of yet.

The set ran me $40USD including shipping, which was a bit steep.  You're lucky, the kit here is the Italeri one, which the update was designed for.  The Revell kit is crap.

A warning to anyone wanting to do the conversion, USE THE ITALERI KIT!  The old RoG kit is completely inaccurate and the tail is TOTALLY wrong.  After many maddening hours trying to beef up and correct the tail, I've shelved the project for now.

$40 is a bit steep..  Looks like the scratchbuilding skills will have to take on the a new meaning then..

Thanks for the heads-up on the kits cobrahistorian. Off to the ??? pile for you Revell Tigre; I'm back in the market now for the Italeri one. Sigh [sigh]
