Not to beat a dead horse or anything........................Cool [8D]

But I just thought I'd post the UH-1N specs straight from the US Navy and Marine Corps paint manual for all those that want it straight from the horse's mouth.

Now let's all stop horsing around.

yep, I know what the FS# are. but for the most part the guys on this forum you say blue you are going to get a blue, not the blue grey.  so you got to use FS# so the guys that do not speak JarHead know what we are talking about.

Play nice gents. Big Smile [:D]  OOHRAH!!!

I believe MARFORCOM = MARine FORces COMmand

The HQ that controls where/when all Marines are trained, equipped, deploy, etc.  MARFORCOM is responsible for command, control and coordination of all Marines' air, ground and logistical operations.

By the way, it has nothing to do with modeling colors or working on 1:1 helos.  The colors are still the above FS#s whether you call them blue and gray or pink and purple.  Still the same Federal Standard paint #s either way.

The actual colors are a light grey and a blue I cant remember off hand the exact designation thats on the paint cans but If you really want it I can get it at work tomorrow.

All  Marine aircraft are suppost to be painted the same grey blue shades what you will see happen is the blue fades and looks almost grey its not a very good paint and it doesnt weather well at all but we are not allowed to paint entire aircraft ourselves because it changes the weight and balance of the plane due to the ammount of paint.

ok I said to much but I wanted you to get the idea. hit me up if you want to the actual names of the colors the marine corps uses on the aircraft then maybe this will help others to paint them corectly.

Phew. Thank goodness for this scheme. I was having nightmares wondering how I was going to do the cam scheme Italeri suggest in their kit.

Wow Phrogs, you know the aircraft, you must be swinging with the wing. Just a simple ground pounder myself. Thanks for all the input, now all I need is to find 1/72 Corps decals for my bird.

The above color FS#s I listed are correct.  They are from a USMC painting guide.  Medium Gray does have a blueish hue to it though.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have been looking for a color guide on-line. Now I don't need one.

The current version UH-1Ns are actually two-tone gray.  The upper surfaces are darker, with lighter lower surfaces.  The lighter gray is Light Ghost Gray, FS36375 (Testors 1728) and the darker gray is Medium Gray, FS35237 (Testors 1721).

Looks like this:

Good luck.
