I just put together the Airfix counterpart. I have the Heller kit as well, but the Irish don't have the roof sight, so I used the Airfix one. As near as I can tell from a comparison, the one is pretty much a re-issue of the other, just with a different roof piece.

I found the fit atrocious, but I guess it's to be expected with an old kit. Of course, the worst of it is around the windows. <sigh>. Worse, the damned thing's a tail-sitter, which I didn't cop on until after I had the fuselage put together and sanded. Going to have to glue it to something. The turbine area threw me as well: I couldn't find a really good way to get the kit to look right, so I ended up just filling the lot up. Not many people will know the difference, and frankly, this isn't exactly going to be a competition-winner anyway.

I basically got sick of it, and am looking forward to something easier. Like a scratchbuild/conversion.

The difference between infantrymen and cavalrymen is that cavalrymen die faster for we ride into battle!

I've been playing a bit with cockpit - I have added pedals for the pilot, several wires behind the instrument panel, pieces of PE for panels on middle console and several seat belts... I still have to add pilot's joystick and gunners controls...

Hi everybody! Finally found some time to begin on my next project - the Heller 1/72 SA342 Gazelle The kit is quite tiny as you can see in the attached pic. If you wonder what kind of Gazelle, the Gama is, here's the answer - it was licence built in Soko, Mostar in Yugoslavia (now Bosnia) and was armed with up to four Maljutkas (AT-3 Sagger) and two 9K32M Strelas (SA-7 Grail) for air defence. So a bit of sctachbuilding ahead, to build it as Yugoslav version... The decals will be used from Lift-Here decal sheet and various other sheets... I haven't decided the serial number yet, but here's how it should look like:
