difference between flexible and fixed .50 guns??

Hi fellas, I'm after some .50 cal door/window guns to mount on -53. Hannants do some from Paragon models, but they offer two types, fixed and flexible. What's the difference? Are fixed remotely/electronically fired ( like those on the side of Huey Hog ) and flexible manually fired ( door guns )? Many thanks and excuse my ignorance. Rich
