I posted this over in the GB forum, but thought that I'd post it here as well. I started this conversion over a year and a half ago, been working on it every now and then, and then I had to move. So now I get to take a fresh look at it and would love to have some outside input as well. The Medevac carousel is scratch built and the litter pans will be as well. I am trying to represent my bird from my time downrange. (See last Pic) Any comments, questions or critiques are more than welcome.
Guess that today was pic day - here are some pics of where I stand right now. I have a bit of rebuilding to do after the slight damage from the move, but that is for another day.
I opened up the tail rotor driveshaft covers, flattened out a small spot on one cover for the formation light, added the wires on the inside for the light, added the stabilator actuator to the top of the stabilator, will position the pilots door open with the armor plates added to the seat and the map pocket to the inside of the door. The cabin will have 3 litter pans and, hopefully, most of the associated gear that the medics had back there. Of course the legs on the troop seats are very inaccurate but I have decided that I am going to live with them for the time being. If I really get a wild hair, i might pull the beast apart again and redo the seats to represent the real ones, but I'm not sure about that.
and here is what I hope to have her look like in the end
I am not sure that I like the base color that I have, I want to represent a bird that is very sun faded and has all the oil/ hydraulic fluid stains/ dust of a bird in theater for a while. I have the MM Helo drab color but am not sure how to lighten it up, any suggestions?
