Need help finding a kit of this grand 'ole girl in the largest scale possible.

I crewed her back in '69. My Squadron was HML-167 and would like to locate decals.

I don't believe there are any kits of the "Echo" model available but, if you can find the Acedemy 1/35 UH-1C you can always convert.

If you need, I have a few pictures and drawings of the "Echo" model with the TAT-101 turret.

Oh, and Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums.  Looking forward to seeing your builds and maybe you can give a few tips on the "Echo" bird.

Conversion is yout only choice, no conversion kit is available, you should have an easy time finding the kit Randie recommended. Has for decals, most likely you will have to make your own.

And welcome to the forum

I thought you might be interested in these sites, also.  You may already have them.  If so, disregard.  Oh!  And by the way.............Thanks for your service to our country. Make a Toast [#toast]

HML-167  Scarface-USMC  HML/HMLA-167  And probably the best, Popasmoke.

Hey there Hawk.  Welcome aboard!

The Academy UH-1C #2196 will be the best kit IMHO.  It has the 540 Rotorhead and the Cambered tail.  I know that 167 ran a few "B" models with the wet head...some with the counterweights.  The #2196 makes the best true blue UH-1E.  There are no decals that I know of, so you'll have to make your own.  Seems to me the only color was the checkerboard anyway.  There are some sets of generic MARINE decals in either black or white, in various scales.  There is a Navy font running around out there.  "Longbeach" I think.

You will have to post your progress.

Welcome, Hawk...

I saw your post about the UH-1E and I made a couple of them in 1/35 scale back in Aug for the guys of HML-167 at the popasmoke reunion.  I used the Monogram 'C' mod with the Eduard photoetch parts kit, turned out nice, I had the nose checkerboard art custom made.  I have photos posted back in the July-Aug timeframe last summer under "finished UH-1E pics."  Maybe I met you at the reunion in Ft. Worth?  I remember "Chesty" bid and won one of them, man he was really happy!  Good Luck with your build!

The Monogram 1/48 Huey "Hog" has hi-vis USMC (HML-267) decals.  The ordnance setup isn't USMC but you could leave that off and build a slick.
