1/72 Jayhawk, SH60 kit Hasegawa vs Italeri?
Posted by Aaronw on Saturday, January 20, 2007 8:24 PM

I have the Fireball 1/72 Jayhawk conversion kit, it can be used with either the Hasegawa or Italeri SH60 kits.

I have both of these kits already but have never built either. Any suggestions on which one I should use or shall I leave it up to a coin toss Smile [:)]

Thanks

I like the fineness of the Italeri. the Hasagawa seemed heavy to me. It was however the bases for my J-hawk.  I used Hawkeye Models conversion and most of the decals.  I still trust my coins to help me and then it's what I have on hand the the stash.  Just an idea, if I remember you have to cut off Hasagawa's radar on the bottom.  And that leaves a big Hole? Lots to fill and sand, I cheated, I pour resin into the assembled radar cover and used it as a plug save a lot of filling..  Good luck on you choice and lets see it!

I just finished building a 1/72 HH-60H Rescuehawk using some resin accessories from the Fireball Models set. I used the Italeri kit and it came out looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

I will use the Italeri kit again when I build my 1/72 HH-60H Jayhawk (using the Fireball conversion set).

With a little attention to detail, I think it can be built into a very convincing model.

Good Luck,

I built a straight seahawk up from the Hase kit a few months ago and had no  problems with it, but I have shied away from the Italari kit after opening up the box on the MH60G kit in 1/48 scale. I know Italari tends to pantograph things down and they often get worse in 1/72 scale (AH1W comes to mind....ugh!).

I may go that route since it seems here the consensus is that the Italari is the better of the two options.

thanks guys.

The simpler path is the Italeri kit. If you use the Hasegawa kit, you have to patch the inch-diameter hole in the belly created by cutting off the radome. The Italeri radome is applied to an intact fuselage, so you just leave it off!

Well it looks like the Italeri kit then. I wasn't sure how the Italeri kit built up and they can be hit or miss.

Thanks

I think the Italeri MH-60G kit is rather nice. I'm using it to build my Australian Army bird.
