WW2 Helos
Posted by mikepowers on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 8:01 AM

Hey guys.

It's very rare to see a thread on WW2 helos. I for one would really like to see some builds on these birds.

I'm getting ready to build a couple and would love to see some of your work. Does anyone have any pics they could share? Any ww2 helo would be great.

Thanks everyone

Mike,

The Special Hobby R-4B is a bear of a kit, but comes out to be quite the nice representation of the Hoverfly once its finished.  Mine's about half done right now and once I finish the plethora of modern jets on my workbench, I'll get back to it.

My next writing project once I'm done with flight school will be an in-depth history of US Army WWII Helicopter operations from 1942-45.  There is a LOT more than what most people know.  For obvious reasons I'm not going to reveal much here, but there were a lot more than just the 1st Air Commando Group using R-4s and R-6s in combat.  I'm looking forward to finishing up the Apache program so I can start interviewing the remaining WWII helicopter pilots before its too late!

That being said, we NEED a good 1:48th kit of the R-6A!

You go brother.

WW2 helos or just early helos in general are an obscure subject for some reason.

I'd be the first to buy.
