Hey Guns-a-Go-Go Fans
Posted by ridleusmc on Monday, February 12, 2007 9:41 PM

Tonight on the Military Channel was a show called "Weaponology."  The subject was vertical lift.  They spent a few minutes on Guns a Go Go.  I remembered all you Guns-a-Go-Go fans, so I thought I'd make a mention.

The only problem was the confusion between Chinooks and Frogs (CH-46's). They were talking about Easy Money, and then they showed a tandem rotor machine in a grainy shot which had a tricycle landing gear and was a little small to be a CH-47.  Don't fret, they showed Easy Money in all her glory (someone must have spent some time and effort keeping her looking good), and most of the file video was  of actual Chinooks.   There was even some Vietnam era footage of Guns-a-Go-Go.

Thought you guys might like to know.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Shucks, I missed it.... but it'll probably be on again so I'll have to consult the directory, thanks for the heads-up on it! Big Smile [:D]

I've got around 3 1/2 hours of Go-Go footage on VHS from crewmembers 8mm film, and copies of three short "trailers" that Boeing produced, that I'm getting ready to put on DVD.      Always have the radars out for more, so thank you for the report. Smile [:)]

Take care,Thumbs Up [tup]

Hi Josh,

I will be making an announcement when the DVD is completed.    Richard Jellerson *Storyteller Films*, who done a documentary on Army Aviation for the History Channel a couple years ago called: "Vietnam Helicopter War: A Personal Experience", has now been contracted by the Army to do another one for them, which will be longer and will encompass more of the story.

Since "Guns A Go-Go" was recently re-activated by A/4/160th SOAR, Jellerson wants to include some type of special tribute to them in his film.     I have sent the videos that I have to his Writer, who will be "cleaning up" the footage and transferring it all to one MASTER DVD which they will parse for they're production.    They'll return my tapes along with the new DVD, which I will copy for those who may want it.

I also have access to one of the original 45rpm vinal records the Warrent Officer Candidate Assn. made in 1966, with the stirring song "Winged Soldiers"!   Jellerson wants to digitally remaster the crackly record, so that will probably be thrown in the mix somewhere as well. Smile [:)]

"We're winged soldiers, we fly above the best,

defenders of the land and the free.

From the sky we do our dying, let the Angels rest...

Winged Soldiers are we"

Take care,

Frank
