That is coming along very nicely, and you are right you don't see S-58's much. Hopefully with the new Italeri kit available we will see more soon.

I have a pair in the works, an S-58 and an S-58T.

I added extra windows on the 58T, 1 extra on the right and 2 extra on the left.

One thing odd I found with the kit is the landing gear is not the style shown in the instructions, I've found one review of the kit and it made no mention of that fact and I don't see anyway it could get missed since it took me a little time to find the right parts and put them together.

I was also wondering on the CC kit nose, did you have any trouble with the canopy on the S-58T, mine is not fitting right I have about a 1/8" gap I need to deal with.

Funny Thats how my first one was started. Then I saw it later and it was decomposing.  Real bad scene.  That was the Air 5,  A little surgery and it's back to it's splender.  I'd still like to see other S-58's.  If you can get a shot or two please send it in e-mail thru Finescale.  I'd like to see them anyway..

I'm affraid I am the last earthling not having a digital camera, so no pics...Alien [alien]

Before the CC-conversion I did my S58T's by just aplying countless layers of putty to the nose: after days of claying, drying, sanding and claying again I ended up with something that resembled a 58T. Then again, not of a quality I would share on the net I'affraid...Ashamed [*^_^*]

In retrospect, it was never pointed out about the angle. Some new photos show you might be right by about an inch.. the engine area seems to be shallow, given the proportions.   I also found that the tail has the wrong angle, but i'm not about to change it.  Thank you for pointing that out. I'm sure if Mr. Miller would like to have the master changed, I might hear from him.  For me, I like the conversion and I think it adds a to the model builders choices of S-58's.  I'd like to see your S-58's, I've looked and looked, I've seen two S-58's on the web  this one and an Air5 LA County Sheriffs.  If you have one please, share it with us all.

Man that's gorgious!  Great job!

Rev.

<> Is the nose scratch or from a conversion kit?

Duh!  You stated it in your description.  My bad.  Sorry.

I'm going away now.

Great job Glen!! We can't have enough of your civil models!

Thanks for sharing, Gertjan

Btw what do you think of the CC nose? I have done tow CC conversions myself and have the impression that the angle of the upper part of the nose, is too steep... Comparing my CC 58T's to photographs gives me the idea that the nose shape of the CC is not entirely correct.

Just sharing some work in progress here.  A 1/72nd scale S-58T of Aris Helicopters of San Jose CA.  Using Cobra Companies conversion nose.  Lettering is from Micro Scale Model Railroad letters and Numbers sets and some decal strips for the company Logo.  Hope to finish soon.

Cheers Glen
