scratch building litters

Well, in many cases , guys would be dragged aboard in a poncho and dragged off when they got to the evac hospitals.. The VP litters are nice. Come to think of it , a Stokes litter would be a great addition, too.

I've got several litters in 1/35 scale from older Italeri kits like the Ambulance Jeep and a medic crew. If you need some litters, let me know and I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

i dont have the exact mixing ratio, i pour alittle elmers in a bowl and add water till the mixture is runny, the toilet paper will be supper plyable, even if you tear a piece you can blend it back together, but once it dries it will harden and conform to what ever shape you put it in or on to dry.

what mixture is the elmers to water? Is the material still "plyable" after this or is it set in stone. Thanks in advance.

hey unknownpharoah, i like to model fire apparatas and if youve ever noticed most pumpers have a canvas tarp over the hose bed, ive had good luck using regular toilet paper. i will measuer the are i need, fold two pieces together and dip into elmers glue mixed with water, lay the wet piece over the area i want to cover, let it sit for a good 12 hours and then brush paint with either flat gray or a light brown then dry brush with flat white, the effect really looks real. i also made a blanket for an ambulance gurney once using the same method only painted it o.d. green, really looked nice. hope this helps.

I agree with Jon on using tissue paper for the canvas. I would suggest sprue for the litter sides. That way you can sand the curves for the handles. Use plastic strip for the two bars (two on each end) that lock in place to keep the litter stretched and open. They join in the middle on a pivot connection for folding. Use think brass strips for the feet. OR ... take the easy way out ... like I've done, consider buying the VP kit that converts a jeep to a M*A*S*H jeep. It's got litters in it ... both folded and open.
