Revell had a 1/32 Loach for many years. DML/Dragon has produced the OH6A plus several variations in 1/35, including an Israeli version, the MD500 and the Little Bird and a civilian Police variant. There was also a 1/48, either by Hasegawa or Fujimi. About the only major version unproduced in the NOTAR. These all appear to be out of production right now but you should be able to find them at a model show.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

You will be happy with the 1/35 LOACH that Dragon produced a few years ago, and Italari reboxed with lame box art. Nice kit, good fit, take it slow and methodical on the bubble, and add weight under the seats.

I have an Acadamy 1/48 kit as well, but I have not looked at it closely....its a rather small kit.

There as only been one true OH-6A in 1/48th scale and it was done by Tamiya and has not been on the market for years. Those kits done by Academy and Fujimi are actually 500D's. Dragon has just re-released their OH-6A in 1/35th scale, you can find it at www.greatmodels.com

I have two of the 1/35 Little Birds from Dragon and a 1/32 Loach by Revell (I believe) in the stash...It took me a while to track down and get the killer eggs, the Loach was a gift from my father (for a 1/32 kit, the box is tiny, though).  They're out there, you just have to have a little luck.   Good hunting!

Hi ,

The 1/32 Revell kit comes up reasonably often on Ebay as does the Helicopter Patrol kit which features the Loach and the UH-1D together. The Dragon 1/35 kit though has 2 crew with it which are prety good and it's more detailed than the earlier Revell kit.

HobbyCraft offers both an OH-6A and a 500D in 1/24.  They are quite simplified, but seem to fit well and (for the most part) have the right shapes.  Italeri's 1/72 OH-6A is the best on the market, sad to say.  Dragon 1/35 kits are the best in a bigger scale, but require a lot of backdating to get a true Vietnam Loach.

Not if you get the Dragon OH-6A kit, all the others, yes

Regards the Academy kit: I'm pretty sure an earlier thread on here mentioned that the bizarre bronze-tinted plexiglass is WAY wrong too. But it is a dead simple kit to build. It's high time we had a better kit in 1/48, given it's ops use.
