I just got a Hasegawa 1/72 AH-64 Apachae in the IDF markings. The question I have the paint markings if I'm reading thm right show the 64 to be in a all flat black. I thought it would be in a sand or OD paint! thanks J

As far as I can tell, IDF Apaches are black.  It looks to me as if you would be best using some sort of coal black.

Check out this link...IDF Apache

Maybe Cobrahistorian will chime in here soon and let us know what the real story is.

Hey guys,

IDF Apaches ARE NOT BLACK!  The current scheme is a "modified Tiger scheme" that utilizes FS33448 Stone Yellow,  FS30219 Tan/Brown and FS36463 Gray.  From what I've seen, ALL Israeli AH-64s are now painted in this scheme.  The photos in the link that Mac sent are all regular CARC Helo Drab (FS 34031) Apaches. Just like the ones we fly.

I really thought from those photos that they were black.  I would have assumed that they would be the same tan scheme that their AH-1's are...green, I never would have guessed.

 Guys

Thanks all for the help I almost started to go with the flat black but stopped short and checked this form again before I started. Jon I would like to to the tiger stripe but don't have the time or skill to try that one I leave to go back to Iraq on saturday for another 4 or 5 months and I'm finishing up my last projects on the bench so I will go with the helo drab quick and simple. Hey, at least you are over the hump when you get back to the sandbox!  Why not have something sent to work on while counting down the last half?  If you are around Balad, I think there is a hobby club there.  I am not sure if it is the Baghdad Hobby Club, but it could be a good place to stay occupied off duty.
