Dave,

ever have one o those days when you just could'nt get N1 above 10% ?? ;-)

Your absolutely right re; Monogram cockpits and their flexability. I guess being in the middle of an Italeri T model and CC-48008 kit left me predisposed a bit. I'll stand down and sit in the corner till recess !! ;-) torq

After sitting in the full size Cobra ( I was with 2/3rd AHB in '87) and comparing the full size machine to the plastic, and finding almost all switches in place (other than some of the radio panels being moved around) I'm curious what you consider the best out there other than the CC aftermarket?

Im hard pressed to come up with better plastic than a Mono cockpit. I throw the others away and use castings of the Monogram pit as my basis for building other cockpits.

I have a few Fujimi AH-1 kits and reboxed Testors/Fujimi in different configs. They look ok but I dont think any of em (outa the box) are all that spectacular. Basically boils down to the modeler and after all, isnt that what we do,... take less than acceptable models and transform them into stellar representations of their kind, ;-). BTW I built one such POS Lindberg Cobra. 1/50th scale I think. Some rework, but it produced a fairly nice likeness of the prototype (which is what it was tooled after). Auroras Cobra is another example of the prototype. I kinda like em, but rivet detailing will wear you out.Monogram probably makes the 2nd best cockpit in 1/48th.Cobra Company is (by far)out in front for the best in detail stuff, IMHO. My chief gripe is with the tooling of canopies !! I hope that I see one with the correct "shape" before I reach my 120th birthday! ;-)
Cheers,

I have one in the stash, Ill pull it out and look at it. IIRC its an ECAS which is why I got it, I want the whole lineage from Model 209 to Zulu. Actually the POS Lindberg kit can be made into a passable Model 209 if you change out about 95% of the kit and use the fueselage.

Anyone have any info on this kit? Is it any good as far as detail, accuracy? Its a AH-1S(at least it says it is) but looks to me more like a ECAS bird. I just dont want to buy something Im never gonna build cause it wasnt what I was looking for.
